That is absolutely crazy lucky he did not end up down stream, and calling Matt’s Offroad recovery.
Went through water once, and never again cleaned the truck for weeks. There is still dirt there today from over 3 years ago.
A Toyota went through after me when he seen how deep it was. He went full speed, and had such a wake he broke is grill with a chunk of ice.

More luck than skill... or better - more spunk than brains!

You have no idea what small holes or boulders are under that water. You can make an educated guess, but if you're wrong the consequences will be disastrous.

In my younger days, I crossed similar streams in my FJ, and once I finally got my feet and calfs wet that &^*% stopped. Just too dangerous.

Would have been a hell of a recovery bill from Matt's if he did, this was shot in Australia! Victorian high country, that water would be bloody freezing if you had to get out and attach a winch or snatch strap. As a bonus though it's too far south for crocodiles!

Hopefully his alternator didnt get wet.

Huge huevos to cross water moving like that.
Nah alternator is likely fine, on Aus diesel rangers they are mounted right up high at the top of the engine.

Problem is, as you would know, and I've done similar in my younger, and perhaps sillier past, once you start, you're committed, there is no stopping, or going back!
Or as Yoda would say, "either do, or do not, - there is no try"
