I saw in another thread, a member was happy that he had a "pre-COVID" Ranger. Is this something that owners of newer 5G Rangers are concerned with? Are we going to see a rash of missing drive shaft bolts and other un-imaginable problems?

In our case a pre-covid Ranger is also a first model year so we are in a lose lose situation. Not really, 20s and 21s are 99% just fine.

No one could prove it one way or another unless a properly administered survey was conducted.
But no one can deny that covid brought on challenges unseen before and is a wake up call for everyone.
The only guarantee is that prices won't drop to pre pandemic levels. The greed is now cemented into business plans. We all will pay more for less, including quality.
that's sure is a positive outlook you have, eh buddy

edited to add the "eh"

I've described my Ranger as a covid purchase on occasion. Only because the dealership had a supposed outbreak and only one sales person was on-site and a temporary business manager. Also, no one was buying anything due to whatever fears. I got a great deal, lots for my trade and one on one customer service.

Purchased mine april 2020 $9k off MSRP and 0% interest for 84 months all because of the overstock then couple months later the shortage slowly started

That's exactly what happens. Human mortality is eventually 100%.
It's what we choose to do with our time in between birth and death that matters.
Your sphere if influence is bigger than you realize. The small things we think we are doing are often huge to someone else. Hopefully we all realize that before it's too late to make a difference.

Getting a good deal due to market conditions is commendable. But I'm referring more to quality and reliability issues during the manufacturing process.

Is "pre-COVID" vs. "post-COVID" going to be similar to what day of the week your vehicle was assembled?

If post covid purchase I believe in addition to people, this was also required, but maybe not mandatory....for vehicles registered after this mess began.
Check your 2020/2021 built Rangers glove compartment...mask possibly there.

IMHO, not something to worry about.
