Didn't get to do too much since the wife isn't a fan of being bounced around, but I enjoyed a little trail time on our camping trip and got to test out the skid plate
doesnt like being bounced around? try sand! soft as butter, with the tires aired down.

from camping at Big Dune two nights ago:

Pretty packed wheels. You make it all the way to your planned destination or have to turn back early?
Right there was the destination, Tony Grove Lake, 8000 ft above sea level. Wheels are packed from the celebratory doughnuts that commenced once we made it to the parking lot.

Some back roads in Orange County, CA. Taking it to the real trails this weekend to test the long travel on some whoops.

camping at Usal Beach along the misty northern california pacific coastline

IMG_1149.jpg

driving the thoroughly enjoyable logging/access road from highway 1. it was raining this week and we enjoyed having 4wd to make the slippery mud and ruts on steep grades easy. in the distance is the destination

Usal beach. black sand on the pacific. for the most part we had the place to ourselves, thanks to the season and the weather.

the puddles on the way out. not an issue for any truck, let along a passenger car with some cojones (its relatively high clearance terrain here and the puddles are deep), but this made us laugh. prior to this truck we were adventure-camping in a grand caravan from 2000. that specific year had a unique quirk- the serpentine belt would tend to pop off the idler pulley when you drove through any puddle going more than 3mph. (ask me how i know.. ask me how many times this happened....)

it took a full seven months of driving this ranger around for me to finally not get anxious driving through puddles.

I definitely pushed my comfort level today going off road. I have more dings than i care to count on my bash plates and lower control arms. All cosmetic nothing broken. This was just my checking to see if i can feel my rear tire floating.
