Does your transmission make a whine sound when shifting out of first when driving slowly?

I had a shop tech drive my truck so he could feel my driveline shudder and he noticed my transmission made a whine when shifting out of first gear. I said the sound had been there since I bought it and I thought it was just a characteristic and he just went "huh" and when no further with it. So now I'm curious does anyone else hear a sound between shifts primarily out of first gear?

I have no whine with mine. The only noise I hear is if I take off to soon without letting it warm up is the fan noise which sounds like a garbage truck. lol As long as it's warmed up (wait until the rpms drop) is quiet.

If I am in 4wd going slow in a trail and i am essentially controlling the gears then I will sometimes hear the whine in the transmission from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd. At first I was worried. After having the truck for many miles I'm not concerned and figure this is most likely normal behavior

I sometimes hear a "whine" come from the transmission when shifting up through lower gears. It's a very mechanical noise, like @RANGER PRIDE mentioned, kind of sounds like a hydraulic pump or some sort of actuator. The sound is most pronounced when I am engine braking and shift up (with windows down). Since it never sounded like terrible grinding, I just assumed it was nature of the 10-speed.

Mine sounds exactly as jalapeno cat described. I assume it's normal.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Never noticed it, but now curious and will be listening for it, but if it is high pitched I won't hear it in an case as my high frequency hearing is gone from working around aircraft for many years. (and shooting a lot, and artillery). I tell my spouse her voice falls right in that range, why I can't hear her. :)

Ok I think its normal too, thanks guys for putting my mind at ease. I knew that tech was wrong.
