It looks like this box will not work with the plastic in-bed liner.

Im wishing I didn’t get it now, mines fixing to be a CL listing or become a piece of yard art.
Why? Ford says it should fit with minor cutting. Did you sell it?

No, it fits with a drop in liner. Minor clearance cuts around the bolt holes is all that is required!

I don't have a tonneau, are there any extinguishers made to be outside all the time?
I’d look for a wine bottle cooler bag and use it upside down as a sunscreen/weather protector. Maybe make extra cuts and use Velcro to hold it closed.

I have one on the left side, open to elements. It's been awesome so far (about 3 months) i go thru a car wash about every 10 days, and it's rained hard and snowed a little. It's never had a drop of water inside. I do have the factory spray-in bed liner, which has been tough as nails btw.
easy to use and works great. I actually ordered mine thru Stage3Motorsports.com

I did something like that on my old Ranger.
I had a behind the cab tool box and mounted a fork clamp to the box. Worked good.

yeah, the bed is so small now, my bike barely fits lol.
i love the fact that its easily removable. it holds a lot and is very handy.
i plan on getting the right side one before winter.

The Swingcases are very useful...I didn’t have to put anything in the compartments under the rear seat, and/or worry about accessing it.

Are they water tight? Or have drain holes in the bottom? I have a trifold tonneau so doubtful the would be exposed to much (if any) water but would hate to have it turn into a sloshing mess

Does anyone know if you have to remove the tiedowns near the tailgate to install the swing case?

Fortunately, I don't have any in the middle of the bed...just the 4 at the corners.

You use the bolt locations but both tie downs stay in place after installation. Look at early pages for images.

Thanks. I looked back in this thread and found what I needed.

Unfortunately, I'll have to buy a few bolts (4). My truck did not come with the middle tie downs. Also, Ford sprayed the rear tie downs so I'll have to cut/peel those free to get to those bolts.

So much for a quick install.

Yes, they are water tight; the top lid seats itself over the sides, and the closing mechanism and lock pull it closed tight. There are not any drain holes. I know some people who have used them as “coolers” too..filling with ice, drinks, food..to empty, they just lift them off the brackets and dump out.

Use a box knife to score around the head of the screw, and then use a screwdriver or pick to dig the bedliner out of the screw.

You should probably use a tap to chase the bedliner out of your holes. You will need M6 and M8. The screws you are missing (where the tie down attaches) are M8; the (3) M6 at the back are included with the kit.
