Phantom Sound In Cabin

I had the exact same thing on 21 tremor. I really thought it was the sunglasses. But then it happened again after they were out of the holder. One weekend I went under the truck and with my hand banged on all the heat shields. I actually reproduced that metallic vibration sound in an area I was hitting and just pushed up on that heat shield area with a little force with a finger. Then hit it with my hand and no more vibration sound. So if by chance you still have it this is an option. Area was under the passenger side somewhere between the front and rear door.

Heat shields are a major source of hard-to-find rattles.

It's obvious...you have the dreaded "playful Gnome" living in your Ranger. Well known phenomenon that seems to plague certain owners. As you hear him on one side, he will run through the interior to some other spot, and jump up and down...it's his pointy hat that's making the noise.
Good luck tracking him down...their very quick...

You need to get the correct gnome. I've never had that problem since getting my guard gnome.
