I have a 2022 Lariat and looking at tuners. They are asking for the pcu/ecm code. They were easy to find in older year rangers but where is it located on a 22?

Based on where the bulk of the wiring is routed, it looks like it is under the fuse box behind the battery.

That was kind of what I was thinking. I was hoping I didn't have to pull the fuse box but might end up having to do that.

Which tune company is requesting that? That seems odd. The Livernois tuner downloads everything it needs automatically.

In the past, I've seen vendors send the handheld device and you read the strategy info with that and provide them the info. Then they e-mail you the files to load on the handheld.

I see that's an option too. Was just trying to eliminate a step if possible. I haven't gotten a new tuner in 10 years so I know things have changed.

You need to get the number out of the ecu with the tuning device. Those ecu part numbers change every time Ford updates their programming.

Ok, that does make sense. Looks like that's the route I'll go and not worry about finding it on the truck. I appreciate everyone's help!

If i remember correctly, you can view it in the Enginering Mode, Left IPC Screen or with Forscan just after you connect to the truck, the module list that loaded, I know I have seen it just cannot remember where, without checking. I know that Forscan has to read it as some owners have issues connecting and have to delete the saved profile and redo the connection process due unable to read PCM
But as far as location, its under the battery

I think you may have gotten the letters mixed up. It should be ECU / PCM. This is provided by the tuner when you download the factory tune to the Livernois tuner, after you purchase it. I am not sure how 5 Star works, or even if this info is accessible some other way.

Might want to research 5 Star before going with them.

There are other MUCH better options out there.

I wouldn't let 5 star within 20' of my truck.

Wasn't set on anyone yet. Who are some reputable options?

As previously mentioned, I went with Livernois and could not be happier. Their device connects flawlessly with the app on the PC and autmatically uploads your VIN and required info. You click a link and a tune request comes up and you enter what you want within a day or two you get an email saying your tunes are ready, you connect the device to the PC and it automatically downloads the tunes. Follow the instructions when connecting to your truck, pick the desired tune and let it rip. It's pretty simple. And their customer service is great if want to tweak something.

Well there we have it, finally you said something I am going to call bullshit on.

Care to provide anything other than anecdotal stories you've read on the internet or have had personally for this opinion?

Ive had my 5 star tune for over 2 years with zero issues.
