Howdy! New to me 2019 crewcab stx ranger 52k miles owner from Athens Ohio, I purchased this truck a couple weeks ago. About 3 days after buying it the passenger window stopped rolling down.

Troubleshooting I've done..

Unwired passenger window and checked voltages
12v to roll the window up.
0v across plug to roll it down but I do have positive power to the window. Just no ground with the polarity switch. (Checked with test light and multimeter)

Swapped the passenger switch with the rear window switch (interchangable) and still no passenger window roll down but rear window worked with that switch

I have crossed the wires with jumpers to the window and I can roll the window down by pushing the up button

Upon posting my previous findings on 2019+ ranger page on Facebook I was instructed to throw a brand new OEM driver window switch in it which didn't solve anything. 120 dollars down the drain.

So what I know
*Window regulator is good and works
*Passenger and driver window switches are good
*Not showing a ground to the window plug when trying to roll the window down
*Circuit breaker is good because all of the other windows are working and this window will roll up if I can get it down
*The window lockout button is not engaged and I have tried it both ways

I love the truck but this is killing my excitement for it

You likely have an open Brown/Yellow wire from the right-hand door to the driver's side switch. This provides the ground that you are missing when lowering the window. A good place to have a wire break is inside the flexible boot with the wiring cables to the right door.

I will check this tommoro. I know that I checked continuity on atleast 2 wires between the door switches and I think they were brown and green. Perfect continuity and not grounded to the body but I will certainly check it out!

The Brown/Yellow wire also passes through the flexible boot to the driver's door, so you should check the wiring harness through that door also.

This may help[ you visualize the circuit - just use the RF in place of RR

Lets think about this
If the Brown & Yellow wire was bad - The window would not move as with going up the (Brown/Yellow) is power from the master switch - The RF window switch has its own power - so 2 power sources can move the window.

Here is a better view
Note: Switches are depicted (At Rest - Position)

Power Feed .webp

Detailed.webp

Example: From the master switch -For (UP) Power down Pin 11 and returns Pin 12
Through the (RF Switch and Motor)

Now if using the RF Switch (It bypasses the power from the master and uses its own power feed) but the motor is still using the (at rest) master switch ground circuit (either pin 11 or 12)

I am thinking (High Resistance) in the Green / Orange wire

You guys are awesome! When I get home from work today I'm going to tear back into it. The drawings and explanations are the information I didn't have before! Thank you. I'll keep you updated

When checking the wiring continuity, unplug the right door window switch, otherwise the motor winding will cause false readings.

You asked on Facebook? Thank goodness you found ranger5g before you tried Reddit.

I hope you get this figured out - a truck that looks that good should be fully operational.

What side steps are those?

This looks identical to what on there. The paint is beat off of them and they are coroding pretty decent but I have no clue how old these are. I'm going to blast them and put bed liner on them. The front bumper on the truck needs the same treatment too

That is a nice looking truck. Duke @DukeCanBuildit is right. A truck that looks that good does need to be fully operational.

Refurbishment is a good idea. My Westins sure needed it after a couple of winters. Despite all your hard work to restore them, they might need it again sooner than you would like. Because…Ohio.

My restoration lasted about a year and then after all the salt, sand, and brine was blasted onto them by the front wheels, and after grinding it into the steps with winter boots, it’s time once again. I’ll put in the work because they are handy and look good when they’re fresh.

Good luck with that window.

I can't help with the window problem, but that is an excellent pic of the Ranger!
Action shot with a little lens flair. :sunglasses:
