Not sure if anyone else has ran across this issue, or if it's an undocumented feature.
I've noticed that when the passenger seat in the Ranger is occupied, the person in that seat is compelled to provide the driver with instructions.
At first I just assumed it was my wife telling me where to go as usual. Then my daughter was a passenger a week ago and she was giving me instructions on where to turn, how fast I should be going and generally acting like her mother. In fact i asked her if she was taking over for her mother since she wasn't there.
So tonight my wife was driving the Ranger home and I was in the passenger seat. I'll be damned if I didn't feel compelled to provide driving instructions even though she drives professionally. Not the first time she driven the Ranger and I'm comfortable with her behind the wheel but I had to ask how fast she was going and let her know what exit we should get off at.
This never happens with the back seat, only the passenger seat.
I'm considering removing the seat to see if the problem remains. A side benefit would be the extra storage and leg room for the rear seat passenger.
I've considered other options to resolve the issue but they are too costly.
Anyone else ran across this issue and how did you resolve it?

Unless this is one of the new features Ford has patented, I think you have a defect. Back seat driving should be happening ONLY from the back seat.

Another big advantage of having a SuperCab, anybody that can fit back there is NOT a threat, and the doggo's get the front seat, so nobody really cares where the Ranger is going, as long as it's going ?

I often get a very loud noise from the passenger seat. Usually it's STOP! GETOVER! LOOKOUT! Stuff like that.

You need one of these. It's amazing how quiet the passengers become once they see it. Best $6.00 I've ever spent. ?

I got the loud inhale tonight while about to make a left while a slow moving car was half a block away.
I instead waited the 15 seconds it took for the car to pass to avoid further comentary.

Is that part of the lane departure warning or was it the collision avoidance?

Collision avoidance. Though there was little chance of that. Must remember to turn that off.

I would have thought cross traffic warning, but that's only for the back.

Just a suggestion... LOL

I use ear plugs often for when I am trying to sleep in. Wife is an early riser. Plugs didn't do sh** when the Tahoe vs. Ranger thing happened. That was loud as f***!

I use them when we're traveling and staying in hotels. It's always my luck I'll get some screaming kid or couple fighting at 2am next to me.

If you've never tried them these work better than the foam plugs. You can break off what you need to fit/seal your ear and reuse them several times. They're not totally soundproof but they work good and are comfortable.
