At 87k I got a wrench. Read the code and said under boosted turbo. Played the quiet game and I’m hearing noises from the passenger side of the engine bay. Hard clicks. Anyone know of an easy repair that this could be…. Please….

Hoping it's just a loose intake pipe or maybe a weak BOV. I'd get it running and go listen around under the hood. Shake intake related things and see if noises change or especially if the idle changes.

A bit more risky way to look for a leak is to spray carb cleaner around intake connectors etc. I've done that to find an intake gasket leak, but spraying flammable crap all over the bay.... may be a bit much. However... you will find it as the idle will adjust when you spray where the leak is happening.

Edit:
It also seems there is a TSB for 2019s doing that for no reason. The fix is a software update to keep it from happening again.

Any noticeable effects on vehicle performance? Turbo has electric wastegate, sometimes malfunctions.

It drove back to the house fine. Felt slightly under powered but the ford app stated it was doing that to protect the engine. Rev’d up the engine to check BOV and it functioned correctly. I’m hoping intake after reading some of the comments. Also the software update, I’m going to give that a look see

Search P0299 on the forum. Quite a few threads. Could be software update, vacuum leak or wastegate malfunction/failure.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I did a good search into all the other posts and such. I cleared all codes and giving it a thorough Italian tune up. So far so good.
