Ford seriously needs to bring the Schilke Ranger to market.
Could you imagine LOL

I would love to see a single cab 2 wheel little nasty truck.
That is really the trucks I enjoy.

I sooooooooooooo miss my ’96 Dakota. It was a nasty N/A 318 based build 390 CI with a 6 speed, and lots of suspension work and frame x-brace bla bla bla. It hurt lots of feeelings.

Would love to see what could be done with a well sorted Ranger of current vintage.

Phil,

Your track pictures remind me of H.O. slot cars when I was a young teen which were bitch'n then. I look at your pictures and hear the theme music from WWE Hardy Boys (don't know if you ever watch(ed) WWE Raw or Smack Down). lol

Regards,
Terry

If Phil oversaw the development of said Ranger, I have no doubt it would be awesome, no matter what the configuration.

It is fun to do the "what ifs". Ford needs more "Phils"!

Hi Folks,

High praise indeed! What I have come to realize is that the hard work and resolve when I had the knobs and controls of Ranger is the posts of the mileage that folks had on their prior Rangers....150K, 200K, 300K miles. These numbers validate my resolve to make Ranger a robust truck with a useful life well beyond the "specs". It makes my heart skip a beat to show that the hard work and resolve of my engineers, sometimes in the face of Management pressure to cave...we stood strong and delivered a product to the customer that not only met their expectations but exceed them.

These forums so validate the efforts of our engineers, many of whom are not with us anymore...
Makes me so proud of their contribution to make Ranger a brand to trust. I always believed if the boss had passion for the product, then the passion was infectious on the rest of the team... I t proved so true... I had a waiting list of folks wanting to join my team.. I knew we were doing the right thing...but to see the fruits of this labor on these forums gives me true satisfaction that "we done good"

So humbling!!

Best,

There's some videos out there on Youtube for these SCCA events. Here's one from '87 where Steve Saleen had an early lead. Not the same trucks though.

This takes me back to the first Ranger I ever drove. And learned standard on. My Dad's '86. Man that thing could fly. I was surprised I never got a ticket.
Same here, my first truck was a manual '86 longbed ?

Hi Gary,

Ok...busy day but had some time to scrounge a few more of the Race Trucks.

Ed Dunne with my first test mule of two test mules..Lake Geneva Wi Oval

Las Vegas Oval. The winning Ford Ranger is tucked behind the 2nd truck in the picture. Steve Saleen behind the wheel of the Livernois Scorcher Ranger. I was there with my 2nd test mule giving rides to the top brass from Ford that were there for the Race....Must have done 100 laps for the Ford Brass. Fun Time, but talk about a sore neck...Ovals are tough on the neck!

Not all heroes wear capes

Unless you do... More power to you.

The genuine give a shit about weird issues people have... Any company should beg their engineers, workers, etc should emulate.

Said by a dude in the HR side of things. I really hope I hire people like you moving forward as I switch from military to civilian HR.

Huzzah!

I am very proud to own my Ranger and to have Phil as a mentor on this forum. Great thread and it brings back some many memories of days at Portland International Raceway. Thanks you Phil for all you have done for Ford and our beloved Rangers.
