Other pros of steel bumpers?

If I lived in a country where fast-moving wildlife suddenly cross the road (kangaroos, deer, emu, depends where you live), I see the point of steel bumpers. But wildlife isn't an issue where I am, so are there any other pros to having steel bumpers?

No carabaos in the road? Impacts with other motor vehicles are probably the most dangerous thing. For those who have not been to the Philippines, a carabao is a large water buffalo. I ran across one in the jungle, and it was very large and intimidating.

Thanks for mentioning carabaos , although they're pretty slow. If I'm surprised by one on the road (about the same chances as being surprised by a cow), then that would really be my fault. I've driven in other countries where wildlife just leaps onto the road though, and yeah, that'd definitely be a reason to get a steel bumper.

You're right about impacts with other motor vehicles being a main concern, although if I'm gonna hit something that heavy, I'd rather have a good crumple zone. Seems like a steel bumper transfers more impact forces to the chassis (and eventually passengers). I'm a total noob though, and if the effect on a crumple zone is actually minimal compared to a typical plastic or composite bumper, my apologies.

Magnetic bumper stickers work on them.

Steel bumpers usually offer shackle locations therefore superior recovery points. Hi lift jacks work better on steel bumpers.

Possible winch mounting if that is in your future. Steel bumpers also give you a surface to work on things if needed and a place to mount light bars.

steel bumper allows the manufacturer to sell a chrome package, shiny things!

idiot drivers run into things all the time, so the easier it is to pop on a new bumper, the better

separate steel bumper makes it easier to sell alternative bumpers

They are also easier to remove and replace with aftermarket solutions than a plastic fascia. A plastic fascia usually has some weird body line on the fenders it has to line up with (along with a not-so-clean edge if removed). A steel bumper can be replaced with a beefier bumper with no loss of styling or hacky changes to make it look right.

Plus, "real trucks don't have fascias" (watch below for 10 seconds).
