@RANGER PRIDE is the official tailgate dampener mafia!

Hay Anthony the Moderator I am a old guy and I can handle my tailgate very easily without any help. As a Moderator you should know that post count is everything on a web site.

I just checked again (3rd time) and locking the doors does not lock the fuel door on mine. I'm not crazy my mother had me tested! :giggle:
No, you are not crazy, the fuel fill door on my 2020 Lariat does not lock either.
Lucky your Mom had you tested, my folks gave up on me...

To get back on topic, I'd like to see stake bed pockets on the next generation.

If you're worried about fuel security, Ford does offer a locking fuel plug for the capless fuel system. May not be quite what you folks are looking for since it doesn't lock/unlock automatically with the doors. You have to go through all the effort of turning an actual physical key, but I think folks are strong enough to do this since they've been getting such a workout from their factory-undampened tailgates.

EDIT: My bad! As pointed out below, this is not compatible with the Ranger. I thought I was perusing Ranger-specific accessories when I came across this, but I must not have been.

That plug will not fit a 2019-2020 Ranger, it's not even listed on the compatibility list.

Quoted from a Nov. 25, 2019 thread:

↑
"I couldn't find anything on a locking plug/cap for the new model Ranger capless filler neck.

https://accessories.ford.com/locking-fuel-plug.html

Is this the right one?

Nooooo, it will NOT fit...
The Ford locking plugs are not universal. I saved the one from my 2011 Mustang (8U5Z-9C268-B) and it does NOT fit the new Ranger.
This was also brought up in another thread months ago...and oddly I was criticized for wanting to/locking my fuel filler."

BTW, my tailgate is dampened...one of the best things since sliced bread.

If you're worried about fuel security . . .
One more side note - - - When you press the indent on the fuel filler door it pops open enough to fully open it. But, the door does not actually latch when closed. The door is held close with a spring and the pop-up is also spring loaded. No real security, at all. Ford saved a bundle on this set up.

I looked through most of this thread and don't think this was mentioned -
Add an intelligent access handle to the tailgate.
Excellent idea, or a sensor under the rear bumper in which you wave your foot like they have on some of their SUV's to unlock the tailgate latch.

With all the inattentive drivers in Honolulu, a dash cam has almost become a necessity.
I am looking at a front and rear camera setup and am leaning towards a Thinkware system.
Any insights?

What I meant was a front camera in front of the grill pointing down for trail...

I see, well I need a dash cam for the roadway "trails" here in Honolulu.
These trails are littered by that animal commonly referred to as "Jackasses"...lol :curse:

Well, probably shouldn't use the this four letter word on the forum, but having seen that many Ranger owners are current and former owners -
Jeep, their trail camera on the Gladiator was a $595 option that cost a total of $2300 due to the requirement of the premium 8.4 sound system.
Of course you read the forums and discover that many folks have integrated off the shelf cameras onto their jeep and into their systems.
