Thanks for all the help this past year, I’ve had my truck a little over a year and put approximately 18,000 miles in the first year. Truck now has 21,500 on it with the following service:
1. Rebuilt rear end (warranty covered, leaking from the rear seal cover).
2. Rebuilt transmission (after a flash, which did not fix the lurching/slipping).
3. Rebalanced one tire due to it being out of balance from the factory.
4. Redid alignment at 10k due to it being a little off from the factory (free!)
5. Replaced some weather stripping and seals.
6. Replaced parking brake boot cover (dealer goodwill, although it looked bad from Day 1)
7. Replaced one set of suspension bushings and ball joints (no idea why, truck doesn’t see any Dukes of Hazzard moves or hard driving)
8. Multiple customer paid alignments, (after the 12k goodwill warranty)
9. Multiple tire rotations and customer paid wheel balancing (after the 12k goodwill warranty)
10. Truck seems to be leaking some coolant. Have not taken it in yet.
And then electronic issues:
1. Rear interior light stays on at times no matter the position of the front switch OR tapping the light (but if you hit it hard enough, it goes out?). Oddly enough the timer relay always catches it on and shuts it off, so it’s more an annoyance…
2. APIM module reprogramming due to rebooting and going to the “Ford” logo. Ugh. It’s doing this again only 9 months later.
3. Bluetooth cuts out. Not a skip in the audio, the BT module seems to lose all connectivity and you have to pull over, wait 30 minutes, etc.
4. An HVAC relay clicking sound. Dealer said it’s normal (for now).
5. Trailer 7 pin is loose (might just be corrosion, don’t have time to look at right now).
All in all I love the truck. It’s great, has great capability, tows smoothly, and is amazing off-road.
Just being honest though, I see these as more high maintenance than “pedestrian” vehicles like a Camry, but the capability and off road prowess makes it worth it.
