I grew up with Shell and Texaco maps...they were always free for their customers.
Even remember the old , really old, Camper Travel Guides, where the instructions read "go 2 1/2 miles, turn right at the red barn, and take the right fork.....turn left at Gracie's Diner....."
Of course, that was when "hi tech" meant you had a push button radio instead of a manual tune.
when i got my first truck at 16 the maps i was given were the same! texaco, chevron and a shell. all of them worn fuzzy on the edges. never used them much but i always felt good knowing they were in the truck.

ive been using google maps on the sync screen running through my andriod phone and its been pretty good. only one or two places so far it blanked out and it was due to signal loss. a few miles later i got signal back and i was right back on track. i keep a paper map and a old garmin nuvi as a backup just in case.

Anyone else frustrated that we haven’t seen a Map update in a while. It seems like I’ve had NA 2 20 for over a year! (Or am I missing something?)
The NA 220 maps released about a year ago and It'll probably be another 2-3 months before the next map release from Ford hits. Possibly with the next Sync 3.4 update.

I appreciate all the discussion about Waze, Google and paper maps. But back to my original question, why haven’t we received a Ford map update on over a year??
It does seem like we are due any day now for an update.

I just installed the NA 20 maps like two days ago, it's super inconvenient to have to leave the truck sitting out there idling for an hour or two just to install maps that my phone has in an instant. I can also add roads to Google maps whenever I find something that's not right, so I do often submit updates to the google content just to "help out".

Our Subaru (2021) is the same with updates....you have to leave the car engine on while it updates from a USB drive over about an hour. I assume this is because both vehicle's head units will loose power after a certain amount of time if the engine is off.

Worse yet is I had to hack my ranger with forscan so that it didn't idle engine shutoff during the damn install...

built in nav system maps are always out of date. for my 2016 jeep the nav maps never got updated. there were no updates published for them. it always tried to send me down a class VI road that was closed at one end.(gated off) the other end always had to stay open for the people that lived there.

hence why I switched to google maps. heck if you plan out a route where you know you will lose coverage it downloads all the relevant maps. you can always download sections for offline use.
