I've been using Google Maps for a long time, generally with few problems. But for the past several days, it keeps freezing on my display, and sometimes the video disappears from the screen altogether. Sometimes I can press the 'home' button on the steering wheel and then the 'maps' button on the display screen and it will come back. But sometimes I have to unplug the USB cable from the phone and then reconnect it. Anyone else having these issues tied android auto and Google maps?

Have you tried Waze? They’re Google too and it might respond better

You could try a different USB cable. AA is very particular with cables.

A lot of sync issues originate from the source, i.e. your phone. Have you confirmed that the maps are working on your phone.

Mine did that and it was the cable. Not sure what happened to it, but swapping it out did the trick.

I have tried a couple of usb cables in the past, but the current cable has been working fine for months. I ended up downloading an android update on my phone, so I'll see if that fixed the problem.
