Well after a few years I finally put my order in for Old Man EMU BP-51 Suspension for my vehicle! As much as I want to say it's for the Ranger, well many here will know why it isn't. That said I'm still happy to have it on the way!

While I was looking around for more information on the BP-51 Suspension, I came across this video from ARB that goes into some nice details about the BP-51.

Now for those wondering, yes the BP-51 is still available from ARB for the 5th Gen Ranger. The part numbers are BP5190013L/R for the Front and BP5160049L/R for the rear. For the leaf springs it will depend on the load at a lift height of 1.4 inches. EL120R for no weight, EL121R for 600 LBS and EL128R for 1200 LBS. In reality it all depends on the setup of the vehicle.

Here is the application sheet from ARB with Part Numbers and yes I am aware of the BP-51 being a bit pricey.

Well as an update things are happening soon! The BP-51's from ARB came in and I already have the Leaf Springs setup with an Add A Leaf to handle 1100 LBS(the truck is pretty heavy). Since the weather is going to be nice this weekend, I plan to hit the trails one last time with the Dobinsons Suspension since I didn't get a chance with the IMS. That said I plan to install the following weekend and go from there!

As of now I have adjusted the compression and rebound on these. Front are set to 6 compression and 8 rebound. The rear is set to 8 compression and 8 rebound. This is the middle of the range recommend by ARB. Who knows if I will need to go softer or stiffer, but it should be about right.

Well today was the day! I finally have the Old Man EMU BP-51 Suspension installed on my vehicle! It is set to 20 MM of preload up front due to the weight up there and fits perfectly with the SuperPro Control Arms. The rear is paired with the Heavy Duty Leafs with Add-A-Leaf to make a capacity of 1100 LBS. Total lift at this time? 2 inches front and rear with just suspension. Tires are stock at this time because I like my remote start(it's a long story).

I only have a little driving today and with the front set at 6/8 for Compression/Rebound and the rear set at 8/8 for Compression/Rebound, I can say it seems a little stiff, but I'm currently in the middle of the recommended area. I also have a bunch more driving to do to get things set and settled. That said it is more comfortable than the Dobinsons so far! I'm just curious how it will handle the Concrete Paved that like to shake vehicles apart?! 🤔

Final update on my end with the BP-51'S! After playing around with the adjustments a little more, I have found them to be just right when set to 5 on Compression and Rebound on my vehicle. I do still feel bumps here and there, bit it's just right. For those that deal with certain concrete paved roads that like to shake vehicles apart, I have found these setting actually stop that for my vehicle. Of course it may be different for the Ranger especially depending on the setup with weight and springs, but the fact I was able to tune that out made me happy!

So for those wondering, yes I can absolutely recommend the Old Man EMU BP-51 Suspension regardless of the vehicle.
