I guess I drive like an old man. If my Ranger has or doesn't have a limiter, I wouldn't know since I haven't driven fast enough to hit it. I thought some manufactures did limit up to the speed rating of the installed tires for "safety" reasons. My old '99 GMC Sonoma was limited to 94 mph. I'm not sure if it was because of the tires though. Its 2.2 liter would have been drag limited not too far off that mark though.

Hint: There's never a legal time to go 95+ mph... even if you're pregnant
Hope nobody you care about ever has a medical emergency. You guys like to gloss over details, I deliberately said complications from pregnancy implying an emergency, y'all like to gloss over details during your virtue signaling.

Have at it, we agree to disagree. I don't see it the way you do. I absolutely see situations where somebody might be speeding, with good reason, and it doesn't mean anyone is going to die in a fireball of death and destruction.

I didn't say go out and have a fun afternoon street racing in and out of traffic past a school. I just tend to roll my eyes a bit when the "anyone that exceeds the speed limit for any reason, ever, wants to kill puppies" crowd shows up. To each their own I guess.

Should it be standard practice, certainly not, but if you think there's never situation that warrants it we disagree.

Dang!........just told the wife I wanted to get an anti-aircraft gun.........she said no!
For the record, I'm in support of this. ? Apologies to your wife

Based on LawnMM’s ideas of his (hers?) “rights” you’d think even speed limit SIGNS would be Communist.

While I would agree that installing a device (or software, etc.) to specifically limit the speed of the average commercially available vehicle is a bit overkill, you’d have to think that those that get all “…my rights and freedom” over it would also have problems with stop signs, center lines, and driving on the right. After all aren’t those things infringing on you rights to do anything you want even if it’s for your own safety and the safety of others?

And since “Lawn” brought up guns…. Sure, own a handgun or long rifle for hunting or “self protection”, though the vast majority of times people own a weapon for self protection it doesn’t turn out so good, but…. Owning pseudo military type weapons is ridiculous. And when 2nd Amendment extremist types say it’s to protect themselves from their own government, well let’s just say unless you can bring down an Apache helicopter you’d best just have a seat.
You didn't really just go there did you?

So you have an emergency?

You call 911 and ask for a ambulance. If the said ambulance is say 1-2 hours away then you also request the operator to temporarily disable* the speed limiter so you can drive to meet the ambulance.

* Or to increase the limit by x mph based on your driving and accident history, insurance status and your social credit status.

I thought I saw somewhere in the Ranger’s settings where we could already do this. i.e., set a top speed limit that would activate a warning. Maybe it’s part of MyKey also? Anyone know for sure? ?‍♂

Maybe it’s time for a trip to the garage.

110 mph. Don’t ask me how I know, but it’s been confirmed twice. ?

I would like the ability to do 95mph if someone was chasing me with an anti-aircraft gun. Just sayin'

And while I may not be able to bring down an Apache with a pseudo military type weapon , it does give me the means to "acquire" the proper tool to do so . :)

Just a fun fact, 95 mph isn't fast enough to outrun an anti air craft gun...

I would disagree. Patria AMV equipped with an anti air craft gun can do about 80-85 mph. And that is significantly less than 95 mph so you could outrun an anti aircraft gun.

Shells on the other hand can go around 1800m/s or 4000 mph.
