i would suggest trying the cheap easy stuff first. The center support bearing is less than 50 dollars for a new one. maybe put a new one on and see if it improves. if it does improve that sorta nails down where the issue is. if it does not help then at least it was an inexpensive part. a dealer should be able to find the issue and fix it, but ford dealers are... ford dealers. you may get a good one you may get a terrible one.My bump is extremely consistent, just about always present, but I have not had the truck in colder weather. The only way it goes away is if I slip the truck into neutral before braking. Sport mode, tow mode, having 400ish lbs in the bed, manually shifting gears and keeping in first, etc., the bump is always present.
Not sure that the fact of the bump going away in neutral necessarily isolates it as a transmission issue, just that the driveshaft (with an excessively loose carrier bearing) isn't spinning any more so the bump disappears.
Torque converter unlocking still could be factor still as well I suppose.
I agree that lubing the slip yoke splines just masks the problem. Mine have been lubed and it seems to have had minimal effect for me.
