Yes, I have searched and looked through many, many threads about the installation of the Redarc brand brake controller on the Ranger but neither the e-trailer or Redarc websites even list/sell a Redarc unit for my 2021 Ranger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Ford kit consists of a Redarc controller and another module that makes it work with the emergency braking system in the truck.

You can buy the kit for less than what is listed on the Ford site if you shop around.
Thank you for the info. I am aware of the Ford (Redarc) unit, but I want to install the unit without the 3rd brake light accessory. I would never use the adaptive cruise when towing and if I put myself into a position while driving where emergency braking is needed, then trailer braking wouldn't make any difference.

Besides not using the adaptive cruise control and probably not using the lane assist control, I believe the anti collision system can still be activated from the front proximity sensors while driving.
That's the main reason I went with the Ford system for towing.

I understand. It is a bit confusing for me (I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer).

Well just buy the Redarc unit, they are not brand/ model specific.

What he said ^^^^^^^^^
The standard Redarc unit is a universal 4 wire hook up that will hook right into the 4 wires under the dash. Hardest part is bending yourself into a semi-pretzel position to strip the factory wire ends for the splice.
Under $200 bucks on Amazon.

+1 on this. This is what I use. My XLT does not have ACC, so the only thonf missing is AEB. Has nothing to do with lane keeping.

I definitely think you'd want the other module. I also have an XLT, and the point is that if your automatic braking system applies the brakes, if you don't have that other module installed, it won't activate your trailer brakes. You could definitely be in a situation where the automatic braking + it activating your trailer brakes could save you. I think its worth the peace of mind knowing that your trailer brakes will get activated in an emergency situation. Unless you completely turn off the automatic braking then you just have to rely on yourself.

Not exactly sure who you were replying to. But, I do agree that having the AEB functional is a good thing. I also think, since Ford will not sell the additional module and wiring harness separately. That they are holding us hostage to them. Especially when it took them a year and a half to develope the kit so that we could tow our trailers that we bought the truck to tow. If they would sell the module and harness, so I could retrofit my perfectly functionimg and paid for controller, I would.

This was in response to OP's comments around being screwed if the emergency braking activated and having the trailer brakes activating wouldn't help him in that situation.

Being that the truck is rated to tow in excessive of the limit where a brake controller becomes required I would have expected it to be included when you purchased the tow package.

I've decided to go with the OEM (Ford authorized) Redarc unit and purchased it from Levittown Ford Parts. $280.01. I also got the insert for the 12v plug I saw used on an installation video on Youtube. Got a trim removal kit too to help lessen my chances of doing any damage for my install. I'm guessing that this will comply with any warranty issues with my new Ranger and allow the use of AEB with this unit.

Thanks for all the input to all those who responded.
