FYI - It looks like Ford will not bring the Ranger PHEV or Super Duty to the US (I don't subscribe so I couldn't read the article).

That's a huge mistake not bringing the PHEV Ranger to the US! I thought they would for sure after reading the article on how much they lost on the Ford Lightning but I guess not. Hybrid is definitely the way to go right now until batteries and infrastructure get better which they should over time. I was patiently waiting (and hoping) they'd bring it here as I'm contemplating on what to get next. Looks like the Camry Hybrid is in my future now.

I'm not at all surprised about the Super Duty. I think if anyone is looking for something like that they'll be looking into the F Series trucks. It still would've been cool but I doubt there's be a huge market for one here and think that was a good decision on their part.

IKR I thought we'd see the PHEV, but maybe Ford is setting us up for a surprise in the future.

Then again, maybe not.

It looks like we'll just have to wait and see what Ford elects to do.

The Toyota hybrid tech is the best design that I have seen. It really is an elegant well thought out piece of engineering. Built to last.

Ford is attempting to protect its flagship product (the F-150). I've witnessed the results of this shortsighted corporate nonsense first hand.

It is best to eclipse your product with something better, than to stretch out the technology life cycle so long in search of that last dollar, than to have your competition beat you to the punch with a superior product.

I find this odd as our master tech just got back from school and in the class, the instructor was teaching the students about the ranger hybrid
Wondering if they’re going to release a plain hybrid instead of a PHEV

Fast forward from one year ago, departing from a confident electrified future for Ford trucks, Ford Executives seem to be all over the place. I found the Detroit News article this is referencing and it reads like "We're not continuing with our next generation F150 EV, rather, we're pivoting to hybrids and PHEV's with range extending gasoline engines - like the F150 Powerboost and Maverick Hybrid which already exist. So we're not going to do the Ranger because we already have the F150 Powerboost and the Maverick Hybrid. Oh, we also have a $30,000 midsize truck about the size of the Maverick coming which we are very hopeful for - oh, yeah, that's also an EV, which we are pivoting away from."

LIKE, WHAT!?

Oh, did anyone else notice today that they've announced they're doing away with their #1 selling vehicle; The Escape?

Seems like solid strategy from the Big Wigs at Ford - I'm assuming the strategy is to try to sell to China?

That would be my bet. If Ford follows through on their promise to provide hybrid versions of all Ford Blue models and given they are not bringing the Ranger PHEV to North America, then the only thing that makes sense is a Ranger Powerboost. Conventional hybrids far outsell plug-in hybrids in North America so a Ranger Powerboost would make sense for Ford.

I would prefer a PHEV but a Ranger Powerboost will still offer amazing HP and Torque, better MPG and Pro Power Onboard. I would buy it.

There is some interesting speculation on Blue Oval Forums that the Ranger will be dropped in North America and replaced with a Bronco pickup.

It is a given that a Bronco hybrid (Farley comments) is coming with PPO so presumably a Bronco pickup would be the same.

If they drop the Ranger again, then after I've driven the wheels off this one, I'll more than likely be going back to the F150. Only IF they drop the Ranger.

That's a bummer. I would have purchased a PHEV Ranger, but I'll just drive this one until I, or it, dies.
