May be time to bite the bullet and get that heater box replaced.
I'd like to but can't just leave my truck for days it's our only vehicle right now. Besides I have zero confidence I'll get it back without having scratches inside and/or rattles and squeaks. Besides the ac works fine (which is a must here) and it's only the passengers side that's blowing cool air. It's not that cold here and she has seat warmers. :giggle:

Auto mode uses the defrost and floor vents in my truck. Always has.

Which is prefered in my opinion. Who wants a bunch of hot air blowing in their face?
My truck used to blow air from the face vent while in auto mode, hot or cold depending if I had it in heater or AC. Now nothing from face vent unless I manually select it which then turns of the auto mode

You sure?

My truck has always operated this way.

Not sure if it applies in this case , but one aggravating concern is that the A/C runs when in defrost mode? it does on the normal (non-climate control) A/C in my STX.

Odd , when using auto, mine has always only blown heat through defrost and floor. Dash vents only worked with ac on. Mine is a 21, maybe it depends on the year?

I have no useful solution, sorry lol.
Mine works like this as well. If I want warm air to the vents, I have to manually select it. I assume it's standard with automatic climate control. Our Outback operates the same way as our Ranger. These are the first two vehicles that we've had with automatic climate control though.

It absolutely does apply to automatic climate control as well. They use the dehumidifing aspect of the A/C to prevent fogging of the windows.

Forgot all about that.

Seems like a classic case of The Mandela Effect.

The Bears are always on the case!

Funny thing is when I wrote my first response I thought maybe I was the one suffering from it.

Mine has always been the same as well....2020

I am starting to hear a clicking now after about 5 minutes. It lasts about 10 to 15 seconds and then goes away. I suspect my blend motor is starting to slip.
Yay for me...
