No AM radio

I was reading earlier today if we have a real emergency like the Zombie apocalypse or China invades we need am for emergency broadcasts as it is the governments preferred means of comunicating in such events happen?
I will take my chance with XM and Smith and Wesson.

So, if you want to know what the hell is going on, instead of governt perferred means, you're going with XM? OK. Not me.
(and I do recognize Smith&Wessen, although I prefer Colt)
