i put in my tailgate damper and tried my hardest to mess it up.. i had watched an install video earlier in the day and thought i had the procedure down. i put the piston on upside down, put the bottom plate on backwards, and then didn't tighten the top, cable bolt tight enough to keep the plate from rotating,.. i eventually got it. but man, i should have just waited until tomorrow. i blame it all on my 11 year old out there "helping" me.
