I ordered a 22 XL, and it arrives btwn now to 2 Aug. MSRP on order is $28650. Q: will the Perry Ford dealer jack up the price with a "market adjustment?" Should I expect that? There was no agreed up, set price. There was no paper signed with a bottom line price.

I hear there are cases.
But my understanding from what I've been reading is Ford is telling dealers to knock off the gouging.
If when yours gets here and it's time to pay, you can either take it or leave it. But keep in mind, they still often charge doc fees. And there is license, registration, and tax.
But if those are the only things they throw on top, then you may still be good when it's time to pay.

And this is a perfect example of why I had my dealer sign a contract.
Now, you've had a handshake agreement, correct?
If so, and they renege, simply remind them of it. If they still respond in the negative, ask in a polite way for your deposit back, and go somewhere else.

Tks, LM65...Yes, familiar with the usual add-ons, and have calculated those costs with my Toy Rav4 purchase of last year. I can walk away easily. But dang, will be pissed regardless if they pull any gouging bs.

Handshake it was, Don. If they reneg, or otherwise raise the price, it's walk away time. I can wait for a truck. Just have read these stories, and then the extreme stories abt cancelled Maverick orders being raised 6k to 15k (saw those prices myself in SoCal dealerships). We shall see what happens.

Myself, I'd be debating going back or sending an email and say that you realized you walked out wondering if you were supposed to sign something or what.
But it's tough to ask after the fact.
I was reading somewhere that the dealers who initiate tagging things down early on are the straight up dealers.
It's like we hear it said to get things in writing even with friends. It's not that we don't trust them, but our friendship is contingent on not having any misunderstandings.

And do not forget to let them know before you walk out the door, what you're going to post in their google comments, which everyone reads.
Nothing hateful, just what happened. Chances are you'll be driving away in your new truck.

Oh yeah. I plan on doing that during the convo, with names included. But, I have heard good things abt Perry Ford from friends, that they are good. We shall see.

If they jack it up, walk away, then contact Ford customer service and rat them out.

I have factory ordered a lot of vehicles over the past 50 years, not once have I not walked out the door with a signed purchase and sales agreement and a copy of the factory order form. This locks in the price and incentives at the time of the agreement. Also, customer orders also get priority over dealer inventory orders.

Sounds like your truck was ordered by the dealer as a regular inventory order. Without a signed sales agreement the dealer can honer or not the price and if Ford happened to increase the price you will be obligated to pay the higher price if the dealer does not want to eat the difference.

My suggesion is, go back to your dealer, and have a converstion about pricing. That's the only way you'll know, and there will be no guessing anymore. If you don't like what you hear, you can tell them to keep the truck. Then, sadly, start all over agin at another dealer. Good luck.

No signed purchase agreement? That's not a great way of doing business. I won't do that with the dealership I've been dealing with for over 30 years. If they're shady. Then you can almost guaranty a ADM.

Did you give them a deposit? That’s one way to lock in a price. Depending on how long until delivery you could signup for the X plan. That would get you lowest price possible without dealer being able to manipulate after the fact. Let us know how it works out

But there's still some shady dealers out there that even with all of this they'll still mark it up. There are many on B6G who have signed contracts with deposits only to have their Bronco arrive and find a $10K dealer markup on it. Some fought it and won and others just walked, it's sad there are so many dealers like this today. I hope everyone remembers who they are so if/ when times ever get normal again they all go out of business!

I bought a dealer ordered truck that showed on their website but hadn't been shipped.
When I went to put a deposit down on it to hold it for me. I had them give me paperwork with all the fee's and out the door cost. I didn't want any hidden fee's or shenanigan's when it came in about 2 months later.
