I have a 2019 lariat that I tow behind our motorhome. Has anyone added an electric pump to circulate transmission fluid while towing? Or is this possible?
I’m not really a mechanic.
Sometimes we have an odor after towing, smells hot. I’m guessing from the transmission. On the last trip I did start the engine for a few minutes when we stopped but still had the odor when we got home. I figured someone here will know.
Yes you could possibly disconnect the connector on the motor but the circuit will see lost communication from its feedback sensors in the case motor for proper position (neutral)
The motor leads are shorted together when not being commanded to rotate. This will cause the motor to be harder to rotate by mechanical means. As long as the motor windings, relays and wiring are intact, this will make the motor less likely to turn when commanded off, and will cause the motor to quickly stop when power is removed due to the short applied by CW and CCW relays being de-energized.The fact that there is a clockwise and a counter clockwise motor is giving me hope.
I am thinking there is some kind of a worm drive there.
I have to dive into it, but this tells me there is hope.
It should be possible that once the tx is in N, if you cut power, it will remain there.
Obviously, this hasnt been proven yet, so we will see.
Thank you for providing the schematics.
