Meant to ask, did you have to adjust your speedometer after the level and tires?

I didn't but it is off a little (like 2-3 mph) once you get up over 40 mph.

I have not adjusted mine yet either but I do all the calculations in my head lol....As another option I've heard good things about toyo open country at2s but not sure if they are as aggressive

I'd also recommend NOT getting load range E as those do damage to MPG if you are concerned. I got that and definitely not too happy about it after 10k miles

of the 3 tire shops i've been to, all three did not recommend the Falkens. As they state the side walls crack after 1 year. I am going to go with Cooper Discoverer AT in either 115 or 121.

Ordered the Rough Country 2.5" leveling kit today and hoping to install it Friday. Since Ive got to do an alignment anyways, I figure I'll get new tires Saturday and get the alignment free. Now I've got to make a final decision on which tires Im getting so I can schedule the install.

Size wise, Im going with 265/70R17 on stock wheels so I don't have to do any trimming or modifying the crash bars etc. Im between a few different tires and would like some real world experiences if possible.

Dirt roads are common and a few can get a bit hairy during the rainy season. Snow/ice is a big factor. When I go camping, I tend to end up in some sandy areas. Road noise is something I want to keep down as well. As you can tell from the few Im looking at, Im looking for a more aggressive tire.

1. BFG KO2 LT265 /70 R17 121S E1. These are what Ive planned on since I knew I wanted to swap out the stock's. The only thing that concerns me is wear and stopping in the rain. Ive read that these can be a bit slick in the rain and after the first year with them the traction isn't all that great.

2. WRANGLER DURATRAC LT265 /70 R17 121Q E1. These are quickly becoming more and more intriguing. Ive read these have better stopping power in wet conditions than the KO2 and are quiet with great snow traction.

3. NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLER LT265 /70 R17 121Q E1. Not really sold on these but would love to hear real world experience with our trucks.

4. COOPER DISCOVERER ST MAXX LT265 /70 R17 121Q E1. I love the way these look but don't have much information to go on with them as far as performance.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Im trying to get a tire thats going to be able to handle most things I throw at it and last at least a couple years.

I know you said the Grabbers weren’t aggressive enough, but did you look at the Grabber ATX? I have some going on soon, but to me they look pretty aggressive for an A/T tire. This is one mounted on my spare rim.

Yeah those look so good. How are they on wet pavement and tread wear?
Been raining here for 2 weeks in Virginia. I havent noticed any problems with traction or braking. Cant comment on tread wear as havent logged a ton of miles on them yet. But after first rotation, no signs of any uneven or abnormal wear. Im happy with the ride. Quieter than I thought they would be.

Sounds good. I’ve got it narrowed down to the KO2’s and the Duratrac’s. After the drive in this morning during a decent snow, I want something that I know excels in it and these 2 seem to be the common choice.

I think Im going to go with a C1 to take less of a hit on mpg’s though.

My OBD tool will be here tomorrow as well so I can correct the speedometer.

Thanks everyone.

I have Cooper ST MAXX on my truck, they are by far the best AT tire I've ever owned. They are super robust and heavy duty, and have great traction in every condition, and I've put them through everything, not only on my ranger, but on my Isuzu trooper as well.
I also haven't noticed a lot of road noise from them, but I'm sure they're not as quiet as the stock tires.
They may be not 'quite' as good as the duratracs on pure ice, but I haven't had any issues driving around denver this year. And they do great in both deep and hard packed snow.

Also they're one of the few tires available in 255/80, if you want to step up to 33" without adding a bunch of width.

Duratracs would be my second choice, but the sidewall is just not robust enough for me. I'm into really long remote trips, so I need a tire I can trust 100%, and I don't quite have that feeling with the duratracs.

If I was mostly driving around town with occasional 4x4 trips, I'd probably go with duratracs

First off, thank you to everyone who gave me their thoughts and opinions. I ended up with the KO2’s after Matt from Discount Tire gave me a spec sheet comparing them to the Duratracs.

I was able to get 275/70r17’s on without any modifications besides the 2.5” rough country lift. They fit perfect, no rubbing at all and look excellent. Surprisingly they arent any louder than the stock tires imo.

After getting them on I had a 40 minute drive home in a pretty decent snow storm. They were way better than the stocks. In my sub, I didnt need 4hi for the first time with snow.

Anyways, thanks everyone.
