Any North American owners install their own roof rack? It's quickly becoming high up on my list of "wants". I know it's a lot of work and requires drilling into the roof, but from the directions I have read it seems pretty straight forward. Anyone done it themselves? Tips? Tricks?

Slick.

This is the first fixed set I’ve seen that were not installed in the space under the black trim strips. It certainly opens up possibilities for SuperCab owners.

Did the shop that did the work give any indication of how tough the material is where they’re anchored, if it’s reinforced there, or give any idea of maximum load?

I'll be following this thread. I have a bed rack, but a few things have me also wanting some cab coverage, too. I'm tired of the style of racks with the clips that mess with the weather stripping and door seals, so I've been thinking about a permanent install option.

maybe a platform if I want to go all in (I like the ARB platform best, I think).

Or maybe the Wildtrack rails (which don't prevent use of a platform - not sure about the ARB platform specifically - but do allow for removal of it later), but would also allow a cleaner install for simpler crossbars. could also stay with the Yakima HD bar ecosystem for a clean look.
