Looking good!

Gonna do a u bolt flip to help out the clearance?

I'm waiting on 14" shocks so this gives me peace of mind, was debating on 16"s, but it seemed overkill for ranger springs.

To clarify, I'm not running a Ranger compatible leaf pack. These are an off-label use of some modified, very arched, extended length springs for a Jeep XJ with laser cut 12" shackles.

U bolt flips don't work too well with spring under axle setups, but 37s give a decent amount of clearance. It's not really a rock crawler, either. Just fun to rip around in.

Some older pics for illustration:

Awesome! I remember seeing that diy shackle, very cool way to make the space work.

I'd be interested in hearing how the SUA setup does compared to our stock leafs.

I have a rough plan of trying something similar with f150 springs, doesn't seem we can fit the Chevy 63s that all the taco guys use. Any negatives with that long of a shackle?

It's a system, so it can't be evaluated in isolation, basically. Here, packaging space is a problem that needed solved. Have to make sure it gets along with the spring pack being used (watch out for binding if too short or simply letting the leaves flex and stress more than they want to). Also just making sure the shackle assembly is strong enough and stable enough, especially when throwing in bending loads along the length of the shackle like I did with the kink.

That's a badass looking setup! Love to see all the custom work you've put into it!
What's your intended use case for this truck? A more capable weekend warrior off-roader or is this related to your work somehow?

Can I ask about that rear bumper and winch setup you have? Is that a custom mount welded to the frame?

Thank you. I appreciate the kind words.

The use case is based on... compromises. It can't go as fast as a prerunner, and it can't do hardcore rocks like a crawler. I think the best was to describe it is: I didn't want to have to slow down on rough roads on the way to MTB, dirt bike, or camping. Rally truck, maybe. It also still has to do family outings comfortably. It gets to the best dispersed camp spots. This is truck also just helps scratch an itch, so half of its purpose is just for me to have something to mess with. 10 year plan involves a cage and links and such.

Maybe I should do a full build thread someday. The rear winch is mounted on a 3/8" A514 plate that uses the 6 hitch mount bolts on the frame. The rear tube "bumper" is just welded onto the back of the frame.

Nice job TerraMech. Toyotas have been done like this a 1000 times, along with F-150’s & full size chevys…
Good to see a mild pre runner Ranger setup.
The goals can be more suspension travel at reasonable heights, and along with a +2” in front (width) with increased travel for a nice all around setup.
I see your rear fenders have an angled up cut… fenders stock otherwise?
Show us some finished pics all around when you have them. ?
