That would've been a dream come true to be able to get a ride in one! Must of been great just to be able to work on the Saleen team though. We're going back tomorrow to see the main attraction big cars. It's always fun to watch if there's a bidding war going on.

I stay in touch with Steve's wife... Great person....she and Steve have been through so much....Chinese really hurt him...

Fond memories on being on the Ford Handling Track with Steve and I matching times in my test mule and then taking him to Metro Airport for the long flight home....

When he won the endurance championship in 1997, we were at Sebring Fla and the leading Mustang in the race came by the pits with a howlling sound. Rear axle was packing up....with the championship on the line, the Mustang crew chief decided to let the car run....I pulled Steve aside and told him the axle has to be changed. Crew chief was not happy, but Steve listened to me and the car was called in, the crew was ready with air guns and changed the axle in record time....the car won the race and the Saleen team were the champs. I showed Steve after the race and the celebration that the axle would not made more than a few more laps if that. The ring gear had several teeth ready to break off. The oil smell was that of burnt 90 weight....

That 2021 Vette, my buddy has one on order just like that. He has a Raptor too. Asked him what’s up and he replied I’m setting it up to run on the track only right now... lol, asked him if I could borrow it for the weekend. Still waiting for that reply ?

I bet you'll be waiting for a while for that reply. lol ? We were gone to lunch when that '21 Vette was sold and they didn't have it listed what the price was. I can't wait to see the Saleen and the Ferrari's tomorrow. What's nice with Mecum is you can walk behind the stage where the cars are staging waiting in line and hear them and sometimes talk with the owners.

One of the residents I work for (I'm a security supervisor for a gated community) has a red 2021 Corvette. It was quite the pretty machine...til he put some kind of aftermarket spoiler/wing on it.

I have another resident with a McLaren that I like a lot better.

Pretty sure I couldn't get out of either car even if I were to be able to get in, they're so low to the ground!

Love watching these auctions on TV, but one of my life goals is to attend a Mecum auction in person...and a Barrett-Jackson one.

I love watching them as well, however, they depress me as I will never have the privilege of owning any of those dreamy beasts!! ?

I think I needed a bib to catch the drool looking at all the cars there. lol It is fun watching when there's a bidding war especially when they get into a 6 figures.

Dave I'll take that 70 chevelle in a hard top. Looks much better than a rag top. Also it is more in budget than all the 6 figure beauts

1992 Saleen Race Truck (winner of the SCCA RaceTruck Challenge)

Hi Charley,

I built that truck as part of a 4 Race Truck build at Livernois, (before Livernois Motorsports began). The truck is owned by Mike C in Colombus Ohio. Here is a picture of the truck and me before the start of restoration. Craig W bought the truck off Saleen when we closed down the Racetrucks and raced it in 1991....Saleen became the hired shoe for Livernoise the year they won the championship for Ford, Ranger and Livernois in the Scorcher Ranger.
