Well...this is dissapointing...I live in NC where it rarely snows and when it does, they just spray a light coat of brine on the highway which I would then work from home to stay out of the crap...I only drive in the rain when caught it it by accident...so when I saw my exhaust handing down yesterday, I looked under and saw that rust had eaten all around the seam of the connecting pipes to the main muffler...I had no choice but to remove it before it becomes a projectile on the highway...I guess I'll add a turn down pipe later...

Not a surprise for aluminized exhaust. A lot of that is condensation from inside the exhaust and it happens more often then not. Thankfully vehicle manufacturers have been better than that for a while now and many aftermarket companies only offer stainless steel for that reason. Those that still offer aluminized steel are simply asking for trouble.

My 2005 Ranger's exhaust has lasted 20+ years, but it is time to replace it. I've seen Toyota exhaust systems twice as old that show no decay at all.

I'm trying to decide what system I should go with as a replacement.

My 2020 Ranger's exhaust system still looks to be in excellent shape.

Though it is a 4 cylinder turbo, I understand wanting an aftermarket exhaust on it for flow alone. If anything I would find a Dynomax Turbo Muffler to put in place of the OEM Muffler. You should have better flow over stock and hopefully not have a horrible sound. I know it is much harder to make a 4 cylinder sound good vs a V6

I was pretty happy with the subtle tone of the MBRP...not loud at all...too bad it failed...now I just have the remaining straight pipe from the cat...not much louder interesting enough...

Turbos alone muffle the exhaust to a very high degree. I have friends with Miata that installed turbos, and removed the mufflers (left the cat) and the car was very quiet cruising.

My supercharged Miata is the exact opposite. Sounds like a huge vacuum cleaner at the front, with terrible drone cruising. but the torque curve is FLAT across the power band right to 6,500 RPMs... then tapers down some to 7K RPMs.

That is because Turbochargers are on the Exhaust. Superchargers do not touch the Exhaust at all. Both are completely different in many ways and have their own characteristics. That said the right muffle will still help a 4 Cylinder sound good and I'm not just talking about cruising.

IMHO 4 and 6 cylinder engines sound like outboard motors no matter the exhaust note. No beating a nice normally aspirated V8.

Turbos do a nice job silencing the exhaust note. Better than most mufflers... again IMHO. :)

I've got a turbo sitting in my garage waiting to replace the supercharger... I've already removed the supercharger, it is sitting on the shelf.

Had to stop the work as my "honey do" list has gotten too long.

I ahd the same exhaust and it failed in that exact spot. Dropped out of the hanger and dragged on the ground.

i had a new, longer muffler installed and its quieter and still has clearance for offroad.

I installed the same exhaust and I knew what I was getting. I got it off a member here for $125 lnib.. Figured why not. If mine does the same I'll just buy a new muffler. If I were buying new I would have spent more for the stainless steal version.

When I took the stock exhaust off, I started it up expecting lots of noise. It was actually pretty quiet but I bet it would drone and resonate in the cabin while driving it.

A good exhaust system stops that.
