The FX series includes inclinometers (angle measurements) in the off-road screen.
(i know it can be enabled for non-FX as well)

But i'm not sure why it's useful off-road. Is there a spec for approximate maximum allowable sideways tilt angle for a stock FX vehicle, before it starts to tip over? Eg assuming just driver.

I didn't see anything in the manual.

I have no idea if this closer to 10 deg, or 30 deg, etc.

My recollection is a little weak here, but I want to say 30° is pretty much as far as you want to go without getting too extreme, 25° is where you start really slowing down and watching out for what your doing. But don't take my info to the bank - it's been over a year since I've driven on real trails and my memory fades. :(

For sideways tilt I've only gone to 15 degrees and it felt super sketchy. Fox leveling kit on the front and larger tires so your mileage may vary. Also it could have just been my own anxiety!

Uphill 30 degrees and downhill 25 degrees were doable but felt like I was pushing a limit.

Right!?!?! I hit 27° of side tilt and was ultra-sketched out. LOL

You will never see any published limits or even ranges. This is because every mod you do affects the center of gravity. Even how you are loaded any particular day. The higher the CG the less angle you can take.

If you start to roll onto the driver's side, @AzScorpion has said (can't find the post right now) that the damper will open the tailgate, flip out and cushion the roll, and then turn you back upright.

"If I'd only had a damper - Dave was so right!"

When a 5G rolls it looks like a 4G (btw, no one was hurt from this incident - Douglas, GA I think)

Thanks for the information. I enabled in Forscan, the off road gages but have not used them off road yet. I plan on it this summer.

I've been up to 16° and it is sketchy as hell. I can't imagine actually moving forward on a trail if it tilted over 20°!

I was very fortunate for the particular situation. It was a narrow trail, and we had a large group coming from the opposite direction. I was able to pull my truck forward and onto this 27° tilt to get out of the way, and then reverse off of it. I'm glad I didn't have to continue forward.

I have found those tools in the off road screens to be very useful. Typically folks have a very basic rubric for reaction or feelings about being uneven or off center. Some of the stages can be ignored if you keep up with the data on the screens and consider it before moving. Our instincts tell us to tap out before the poop meets the fan (or pants in this case). So, the off road screens help you check the gut against the reality in a way. When things are basically flat ☺ - calm cool uninterested. Around 12 degrees they start to feel it and become "aware" ?- About 16 degrees the reaction is more direct ?, most feel uneasy or unsettled as our brain begins process information from reality about what the body is sensing?. A bit of panic will manifest in some people at this point ?. about 18 degrees ones ass has lost its grip on the seat, despite it clenching in effort to hang on, the rest of the body also slides into the door panel / console etc. This slide of the ass is the standard "notification" for those that do not have the off road screens or an inclinometer of some type. One needs to realize that when the body has slide and transferred it's weight into a "new" position that everything else in the truck - and the truck- have also done this shift. This notification is good spot to think things over?. At 19 - 21 degrees gravity is now toying with you, the truck, your life, and a denied insurance claim. Despite the ? feeling the 5G Ranger will do it if you are careful and not being stupid or going fast. The problem is not the truck at all, it is part mountain goat, it is the slightest mistake or change in ground or grip that will send it rolling or crashing. An online toy to help think on it! https://www.visnos.com/demos/basic-angles

A few weeks ago my riding partner, who is pretty much the ride or die, willing to try anything stubborn type - finally let a scream out. We had gone into a very tight spot on mistake (I blame the map), 24 degrees. we had her front tire on the ground, mine totally free, her rear tire barely hanging on the edge of the ledge and my rear tire in the air. Someplace between front tire leaving the ledge and the drop to it finding the ground I also said a choice word and expected to be upside down. ?. I was shocked and thrilled we didn't ruin the 5G. It took about 15 mins for the rush to wear off. That was at Cross Bar Ranch on one of the hard trails that were meant for buggies etc. not street trucks. Love the place but the map is clown shoes.
