Hi: This 2020 Ranger is my first new truck in a long time, my last truck was a 2011 Ram Dakota and all the maintenance schedule was in the manual....with this new Ranger I have the Ford App and I really love the idea of the app....after going through it and just educating myself on it..I noticed that the maintenance schedule for the oil change is set to 10,000 miles....I am not mechanic but in my previous vehicles I always saw that the oil change schedule was right around 6,000 miles(if used full synthetic), so to me 10,000 miles seem really high? I know now these new vehicles are different, I am just wandering is that normal now for maintenance schedule? Thanks

Everyone has their own "opinion" on this so here's mine. I change to oil around 5000 miles just because I feel better about it. Also the air filter I change around 10,000 miles not the 30,000 they recommend. I may be wasting money but I fell it's cheap insurance to keep it running better and longer.

I go by what the truck says is left on oil life. Neat little thing in the steering wheel buttons.

It's actually pretty accurate. Mine is at 50% right now and I have just over 5,000 miles since my last oil change. It also shows it on the FordPass app. :like:

If gou look in the owners manual it states that it "Can go up to 10,000 miles between oil changes as long as conditions allow". With that said if you wish to change sooner at 5,000 miles then you can do that with no problems.

I stick with 5,000 mile oil changes. It's easy to keep track of and gives me peace of mine. Did the same on all my VW/Audis (all turbo 4-cyls) and never had an issue.

I guess I fall in line with most here. 5,000 mile oil changes and 10,000 air filter change. Will also be changing the rear diff fluid this summer before I start towing after seeing some people with metal shavings in theirs.

I would assume that Ford takes into consideration that some people abuse their trucks when they make their recommendations. So, since I dont drive like a wildman I can easily use Ford recommendations and have a little to spare. My experience with Engine is the external parts that are not continuously oiled are going to be the most repair expense on a Truck.

I am pretty much the same way, I do not do any off roading, and the boat that I do tow is very light so, I feel that after reading all of the answers to my posts I feel that I will go with the Ford schedule! Though I will do my tire rotation at 6K miles

Two great minds think alike........My OCD will not allow me to run any oil for 10K miles. And you're correct my friend, it's cheap insurance.
