Hello all,

Went to go pick up a second pair of 18 machined wheels and stock Hankooks to replace my off-road set. First of all, it was a pleasure meeting @Nism0z33 had a lovely chat and showed each other mods. Beautiful truck he has and he has squatted the back down from a full load of 2x4’s, no pictures unfortunately. Overall a great experience.

Also showed off to a couple stock rangers on the drive up.. a blue one noticed me flying and he stepped on it to catch up, since that wasn’t going to happen I gladly slowed to 65 to wait for him. He pulled next to me, off I fly. Slow down again, this time he pulled behind me but stepping on it up hill. He wanted to see the difference, so I showed him. Easy pull away after a few seconds. For some reason, these stock rangers today didn’t like to look at me or wave hi :/ and I was driving 70 stable today!! I got 18 mpg vs my usual 13-15mpg. Also saw a bronco on the road and a structural fire probably. Interesting times.

Now to my surprise, I thought I was getting the same exact machined wheels. At first they looked different but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I got home and placed them side by side.. very interesting things I saw.. why are they different? Did Ford change it in 2020? Is it an XLT/Lariat machined wheel difference? Either way, I freaking love it. Matches my vehicle much more, perfect for highway driving. I’ll post a picture of the wheels together. 2019 has straighter spokes, and magnetic grey trim, black Ford center cap. 2020 has wider curvier spokes and light grey trim, chrome blue center cap. And no it’s not the dirt/dust.

Super happy though. Can’t wait to have discount tire switch them out.. I wonder how much it will be for basic balancing, tpms install and switching the wheel/tire combo out.

Wheel on the truck in the pic is stock Lariat wheel. The ones you bought look like the upgraded machined wheel option

Thank you Fuselli, I thought Lariat stock was the machined upgrade ones. That’s where I went wrong. I like the upgraded machine wheels.

There’s a thread of folks complaining about the Hankooks turning brown. Looks like those Falkens suffer from the same problem.

Eh. If you wash them and tire shine them after you go off-roading it’s completely fine. I’m just too damn lazy and don’t care about that wet look 24/7. To achieve that you need to tire shine once a month at least…

These falkens are after a 4 hour washboard dusty trip.. just never cared to wash them.

Oh and just to show you, I actually just cleaned my falkens to store them away haha. Coincidence!

Reminds me of when friends of mine never clean their glock(cause you don’t have to) and then they complain about how much dust and carbon accumulated.. well duh!

Another update for this thread. LOVE THE MACHINED WHEELS LOOK. Discount tire charges $60 for the TPMS install. They said future bolt on and bolt off swap will be free since it’s a quick 15 minutes for them. Love you guys @Discount Tire . Will always buy my tires from here just due to the customer service. ? cleaned up the Falkens to store away.

The magnetic wheels with magnetic center caps are sport package wheels.
Woah. You are right, I had to double check. They force you to stack on the sport package for $1800 if you add these machined wheels. Thank you for illuminating that fact. Makes me hold them closer to my heart

My ‘21 XLT 302a package came with sport package included. The 18” Mach wheels were an $895 option.

I see. Very interesting to hear the differences on how to achieve this wheel. So it's either have the sports appearance package on and purchase for $895 or custom order a vehicle and they force you to slap on the sport appearance package for $900 if you want to add an additional $895 to upgrade to 18 in machined alum wheel with mag pockets from the original 17 magnetic gray wheels. I think I got that right...

It can be very confusing in my opinion, and Ford could & should make it simpler. I bought my ‘21 XLT off the lot, and liked how it was equipped. I purchased in February and lucked out on price before they sky-rocketed. With incentives mine was $4000 off MSRP.
