2013 Mustang GT CA Special. Ordering a Ranger Lariat FX2 Supercab in February 2020
Hello, My name is Danny. I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I'm planning on ordering a new Ranger XLT Supercab 4x2 with the chrome package but am torn as to what color.
I LOVE the lighting blue but am afraid it will oxidize quickly in the hot Florida Keys sun.
2nd choice is magnetic. My current car, a 2013 Mustang GT CA Special is this color and it is not having any issues.
What do you guys think?

Keep the paint clean, and waxed regularly and it should look great for a decade.

Modern paints are leaps and bounds beyond what the old timers were using as far as fade resistance and oxidation. But good maintenance is still crucial, wash often, avoid micro abrasions in clear coat by avoiding hard bristle brushes, and keep it waxed. Not only will it look great for many years to come, but it has also been proven (can't recall specific study) that a clean/waxed vehicle will get better MPG, not a huge amount but every little bit counts

Today's clear coats really don't need all that much maintenance. Keep it shiny and it will stay shiny,I would worry about dark colors though as they really heat up the metal. I would think a white truck would need a lot less maintenance as the surface temps don't get that high, compared to a black truck.

I garage mine so not to worry,

FWIW I went with the Lightning Blue, don't regret it for a minute. A day hasn't gone by that someone hasn't complemented the color. My last truck was black and took 10 years to start to fade in the FL sun (parked out side). I have to admit, I could have done a better job keeping it clean in the last few years.

As stated above, if you keep it clean and keep a good wax finish or one of the new detail coatings that have UV protection (I use DualPolymer), the paint will look great for a long time. Love my Lightning Blue Ranger. The SLK below is over 15 years old and is the original paint. I clean it with the DualPolymer waterless wash/protective coating and get tons of comments about how good the paint looks. I had originally ordered the Hot Pepper Red, but really love the blue.

Danny:

Just to reassure you, with current painting system, the color holds up very well without fading. I had a 2014 Fiesta with 169,000 miles that was Blue Flame (same color different name) that held up great before I traded it in. Periodic cleaning and waxing goes a long ways to preserving the color and gloss of the finish.

Good luck on yours, I love mine.

Why would you think any color would oxidize more than another? The color doesn't have anything to do with the oxidation process, The Clearcoat is the protective layer for your Trucks finish. DARKER Colors do build up more heat and can make a difference in interior temperature build up, so the Whites and Light Blues would be cooler in that regard.
