I was cleaning some oil I spilled right next to this pipe and when I pulled the rag out this clip fell onto the skid plate. I checked the other side and I see a clip exactly like this mounted on the hose clamp and end of hose, seems like hose clamp spacer for assembly. Can I get some input please I'll include pics , I'm assuming if it fell off that easy it can't be too important. If I can live without it I'll leave it be. Thanks

Ehhh, that looks kind if important to me, looks like it may "lock" that other piece in place, maybe ...

Upon closer look , it does look like it's just there to keep the clamp aligned, I'd still want it there if possible...

it's not locking any piece one end hooks onto the edge of the hose and the other hooks under the clamp. Seems like a pain since id probably have to loosen the clamp to slip it back on and the area is really closed in. I just wonder how solid it was since grazing it with the towel knocked it off doubt it does anything for integrity but who knows.

Yeah , when I started zooming in, I saw my error , other than keeping the clamp square, I don't get it... or like it, looks like unnecessary metal parts rubbing a very important rubber hose... I think you called it right, assemble line spacer so someone or some robot doesn't mess up the clamp placement...

Exactly, I took the truck for a spin and it's everything looks normal post ride. Only time will tell. Was hoping someone had similar experience but for now I'm just not gonna fuss with it anymore and leave it off.

I wouldn't worry about losing that clip, but if it's supposed to be under the clamp, I'd worry that the clamp was too loose.

I would have to pull one off to be sure, but I believe that if you were able to knock it off then the clamp is not secured tight.
The markings on the tube are there for a reason, and I believe that clip is a spacer that installs between the clamp and the tube to prevent the clamp from being overtightened and cutting into the tube (making impressions) and eventually cracking the tube creating a leak point.

I studied the molecular structure of the clamp and it appears to hold the 3.3 jigabyte flux capictor in alignment with the earth's magnetic core. Without the clamp we will all die do to global warming. See what you did now! Greta Von Lttle brat will be at you door to night.
