So my wife surprised me with a little blue Ranger as part of my birthday cake and I just thought it was terrific lol. It’ll be going on my desk at work now. I feel seen lol.

The only reason I ask is that I've long considered it for safety. We once were camping and a psycho was throwing camping stove fuel into a burning fire and you know how those turn out. We ended up leaving the camp ground as it was just unsafe. I don't camp much but if I did it more, I'd like some peace of mind if that makes sense.
It does make sense but if you decide to get one take a few courses. Those are great for you to get familiar with it and all the laws especially in CA. Living back in MA we had very similar laws and you're very restricted on what you can buy and do. Unless you had a CCW that had "All lawful Purpose" on it (which I had) you couldn't carry one loaded and depending on the permit you'd have to have it locked in your trunk in a box/gun bag while transporting it to the range. AZ is still a free state for now and we have no permits and can open carry.

As a gun owner and advocate, I'm confused by the situation. What would having a gun do? You would go over and enforce safety protocols under the threat of shooting him?

Maybe better you don't partake in 2A activities.

I don't think he meant he was going over to confront the guy. It sounds like he was saying the guy was out of control and didn't know what he might do next. I think he was more afraid of not knowing what would happen if the guy came over to their campsite and not being able to protect himself and family.

Still, seems like quite an escalation in thought. While i generally don't enjoy campgrounds (prefer remote, boondocking, backpacking), I don't think I've ever gone without seeing activity that would cause a scoutmaster cut a corner off your fire card. I can appreciate the sentiment, but "hey that guy is using lighter fluid on the campfire!" to "i am scared for my and my family's life!" is borderline absurdity. If everyone that got wild at a campground was a murderous felon the place would have a higher concentration of shankings than prison.

Separately, when I initially got my CHL there was a required safety class with a minimum duration. to fill this duration, there was brief description of firearms, cartridges, etc., a few minutes on basic firearm handling safety, and the balance was mostly filled by the nutjob instructor talking about public shootings over the last decade, and how if he had been there he would have stopped them, because he always has his glock on him. He also wore a gravy seal, tacticool plate carrier (no plates). He had never served. I guess the point of this rant is that at no point was there discussion on brandishing, and the act alone could constitute a crime.

edit: an additional tidbit I just thought of that made me chuckle - He went on this rant about force multipliers, and how if he were confronted by 5-6 men he would lose (the guy was also like 130lbs, 5'7"), but if he had a FORCE MULTIPLIER, like if he had a knife, he would be able to best them all. He was delusional.

Well, I missed the turn. I must be blocked or something. :inspect:
The moderator posted his pic of his mini ranger sitting on a magazine , looked like a Magpul, maybe AR or AK platform. OP asked if he was the only one who didnt own a firearm. Apparently the answer was yes :LOL::LOL:
