Maybe I'm too OCD, but the scuff marks on the bottom of my door panels drive me nuts. Any tips on removing them so my eye stops twitching every time I get in my truck?

I've noticed that the interior of these trucks get scuffed/scratched very easy. If you look at the interior wrong, it'll get scratched.
Yes and my 3 kids getting in and out aren't helping either

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with some 303 or similar protectant sprayed on it.
Should remove some if not all the scuffs. If scuffs are heavy try some Dawn on the wet eraser.
Won't do anything for "scratches" that have broken the surface, but the black shoe scuffs should come right off.

I scratched the silver panel on the passenger side dash right after I got it. I was putting a suitcase in and the wheel on the case touched it just barely. Big scratch and can't buff it out.

I was planning on plasti-dipping the front skid plate black so maybe I'll do that dash piece at the same time.

I just wanted to post what not to do on the plastic interior components. I had read that a gentle cleaner like Headlight Lens Cleaner/Polish may work well for scratches, so I tried a little headlight cleaner. However, It was too abrasive and remove the sheen. :crying: Fortunately, it is just a small area on the back of the center console.

Any ideas how to restore lost sheen to the interior plastic? I am going to try some Chemical Guys Tire and Trim Gel since it seems like it has good shine and is reported to do decently at minimizing scratches..

Teach your kids to respect the expensive property of others?

Seriously.

How the fuck are they scratching the bottom of the door panels? Are they kicking them?

Maybe if they had to remove their shoes before entering the truck they'd learn.

Well that was a little over the top... idk how you got that my kids don't respect other people's property from my post but ok... ??‍♂

But thanks for the unsolicited patenting pro tip, I'll keep it in mind. Seems like you got the "respect" part down pat.

Now the actual topic at hand. I was really referring to the scuff marks that I inadvertently made from getting out of the truck.

Thank you for your well thought out answer to my question! It was really helpful and added so much to this thread.

Word of advice. Talking shit about someone's patenting and kids isn't a good look.

You pretty clearly blamed this on your kids.

I've found that children usually treat others and their property the way they are taught.

Perhaps you need to take your own shoes off before entering your truck to teach YOURSELF a lesson?

That is talking shit?

I'm sorry that you're so sensitive.

@D Fresh I guess I missed the part where me and my kids accidentally scuffing the interior of my truck was teaching them to "disrespect other people's property". We are all guilty of inadvertently making marks, my question was how to fix them.

Call me sensitive, but I think getting bent about some jerk on the internet calling my kids disrespectful isn't very far fetched. But maybe that's just me.

I don't know if you have kids, and truthfully I don't care, but before you start handing out unsolicited (and ignorant) parenting tips, maybe you should reflect on yourself a bit. Does "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" sound familiar? If not, maybe think about that and teach YOURSELF a lesson.

Thanks again for adding some really constructive information to my post. It was very insightful.

I'll see myself out now. And I'll remember to take off my shoes, wouldn't want to disrespect anyone...

Actually he wasn’t being that sensitive, just wondering why you talked shit about his parenting, and instead of self reflection you decided to double down…

And btw, scuff marks down by the door where the speaker is, is pretty normal. Ever car I’ve ever seen that is a daily driver tends to get little scuff marks there. Your foot naturally swings that way and in a hurry it tends to happen. They even make vinyl covers to protect vehicles right there. His “blaming on his kids” wasn’t really a blame, it seemed more like him saying that with kids it tends to exacerbate the issue. Doesn’t mean his kids are disrespectful, it just sounds like he’s not the kind of dad that expects perfection out of little humans that are learning every day.

Go find a watering hole or a cold shower and chill the F out.

✌?
Thank you. If you were closer I would buy you a beer... Cheers!

Is advice unsolicited though when you ask for it on a public forum?

Again, I'm sorry that you're so sensitive.

One for you since we're apparently exchanging parenting colloquialisms.

I liked this post, then unliked it, just so I could like it twice. My kids are very respectful of other peoples property but they sometimes "scuff" thing just like I do or my wife does. Doesn't mean they don't respect other peoples stuff it just means that they are human like every one else (well except for one person in this thread who is apparently perfect and has raised perfect children that have never made a mistake).

As to your question, I agree with the magic eraser.
