Calibrated wrist is useful at time like that, a little bit of mechanical sympathy goes a long way.

Anyone know offhand what size bolts hold the filter in place. I'm lazy and only want to take one trip to the tool bin. Crawling under the truck gets harder once you hit 70. I know I need 8mm, 10mm, and 13 mm sockets to drop the pan. With my luck it will be a 9mm, 11mm. or 12mm!

10mm I think

But the studs are something else. 11? Been a while. Take 8/10/11/12/13 and you should be covered :)

There should be extra 10mm’s down there. At least that’s where mine end up.

I have this socket set I've had forever and haven't lost a single socket from until this year.

Now I'm missing a deep well 14 and a shallow 12.

Not sure how the hell that happens or where the 10mm gnomes went but I must've gotten their mentally challenged brothers.

I just finished this chart diagram using PPE's bolt pattern sequence, Ford's Official fill procedure from 307-01 Automatic Transmission - 10 Speed Automatic Transmission - 10R80
General Procedures, mixed with the practical wisdom of Ford Tech Makuloco.

I'm installing the PPE Deep pan today, and will see how well my diagram and instructions work out.
I've pulled out 5 qt of fluid 2 days ago, and another 1 qt last night. I'll pull whatever is left in the pan today before the installation begins.

It will be interesting to see how well the fill procedure goes. This time around I can't just replace what comes out. PPE states the deep pan holds ~1.75 qt more. Guess I'm going to find out.

A "Thank you" to Sean ( seanellaz ) for building his chart, giving me the basis to draw from.
