Inside tailgate panel

[P-38Ranger]

I wanted a flat surface. Something I could drill on without worry. Made over Christmas break last, and havn’t used it! Plastic tables sometimes work better.

As you can see, I cut diagonal slots, so it nestled into the tailgate support cables. I wanted the wood wide, so nothing was resting on the metal tailgate when we doing work. I also need an upward force control so I designed in 3-D printed little blocks that slip into just a bit of the tailgate metal, keeping it stable held in with a quarter 20 bolt.
I are an engineer, and retired.

I didn’t need something to add to my to do list for my Ranger. Out of the options offered in this thread, this one actually makes sense as it offers something other than a place to set your beer on.
