Good video and well worth watching!

What's interesting is the wear rate is the same whether you let it warm up for 20 minutes, or run it WOT without warming it up. Even after hearing that I still can't bring myself to jump in and go without at least warming it up until the rpms drop. His testing was using an engine block heater and a oil pan heater.

Like Richard said the type of oil and viscosity didn't matter either it was the temperature of the oil that matters the most. So using all those expensive oils like Amsoil and additives are just a huge waste of money. The main study was done by GM testing 13 different types of oil and viscosity.

Another thing it showed is that there was 2-3 times more fuel in the oil in the unheated engines than there were in the one where he used the block heater and oil pan heater. This might give those with this same problem some answers as to why you're having it and those who live in warmer climates (engine/oil doesn't get as cold overnight) don't.

The one thing they did not cover, which I had heard about in the days of yore, is a pre-pressurizing system where a couple quarts of oil are held in a tank at 80-90 psi and released just before the starter is engaged.... and refilled and repressurized while you drive. Would that make any difference?? I don't know how fast the oil pressure comes up to spec but I think it is fairly quick... given that most engines pump 4 to 6 gallons of oil per minute!! (That figure just blows me away... that you can shove that much oil there the filter let alone the rest of the system is amazing).

As I read and watch this stuff, having no pressure at crank time is main causality of the high wear. Going to all the trouble of heating the oil, I would not expect it to matter all that much... pre-pressurizing the system make sense to me even if it is not particularly practical.

No one asked me LOL I am the resident poster child abuser of a Ranger "Understatement"
after almost 50 years of driving ( I drive alot ) I do stand behind two oils "Mobile One" I have used for decades I have gotten 250k+ out of by change the oil and never worry about it, hell I dont even lift the hood to see if the engine is still there let alone if the fluids are topped TF off ....
and AMSOIL right now I am not leaning either way yet.
I bought my 2021 in 24 with 12.5K miles on it, it sat at a dealer in MD for a while then they added a whole bunch of stuff to it, Rough Country and Roush nothing to do with the engine and I have not added anything extra.
so I got it probably after the first break in oil change lets call it 13K I am at 63k now, I was talked into AMSOIL by a friend that has been an amsoil dealer for 40 years, I guess I bought a bunch of stuff I didnt need the first time because it cost $275 But, this next one will only cost $85
and sometime over the summer I may even do the Transmission and Pumpkins with their products as well.
I now this week at 63K have 50K on that oil change! its not the most I have gone, I had an 80s toyota I chnged the oil at 75K, who knows if I could have gotten 100K if some lady didnt T-Bone me in Tampa and total the truck!
after all the Mind-F*** Hype I trust their oil past 50k and he emailed me and said (he or they) really want to know what kind of garbage and ware or buildup of stuff was in that oil and (he or they) were going to pay for the wheatstone test or what ever they call it and send off a sample to a Canadian lab, I figured maybe it was time for an oil change because if he was starting to question it maybe I should too BAHAHAHA its turned into a $30k running joke and an experiment for them and me (us if anyone else even gives a shit about oil) true Real World under abusive use!
He came over and collected it a week or two ago and ordered the stuff for an oil change I dont know how long it takes? I will run their filter again too, and is going to come do it when it comes in, when checked it was more than a Qt low, looked and felt good, and did not smell like gas was in the oil, topped it off before he left LOL ( I dont have one of those fancy cans LOL) not bad for not checking it in two whole years, it wasnt low enough any light came on, it would tell me if I was really low, Right?
I hope there is enough of an oil film left on moving parts for cold starts....

Can’t wait to see the results. Although, the results will be in Canadian so we’ll ( US members) have to have it translated 😉

Lets wait for the oil tests to come back LOL
There is nothing wrong with the transmission so far, but even if I let the engine oil go to 100k the transmission will probably fail first anyway, then we will never know if I can go 150k on one change bahahaha

What in the hell did I just read?! 😂
To summarize,
Stay away from politics, religion and engine oil topics, in the end it is all Hype!
Use 303 on your dash not Mobile One it collects dust like a MF
It does not matter what oil you use, even Olive oil will work
it does not matter how often you change it anywhere between 2k and 50k best results with peanut oil it has a higher smoke temperature
Your Transmission And Tailgate Dampener will fail long before your engine! if your transmission has already failed you better take that as an omen and change you damn oil LOL

No results yet? A week or two is a long time to get test results. Usually 3-4 days. Just curious as I’m running out of popcorn 🍿
