First oil change, not too bad

Usually I try to do a break-in oil change at around 1,000 miles. Oil looked pretty good. I was able to get a pair of slip joint pliers up in there to get the filter off. That was the hardest part. I'm just happy to have a vehicle again where I can crawl under without using a jack or anything. I had a Focus RS before this lol

‘Just did the first on min yesterday with AMSOIL.
Would love the throat punch the individual who put the oil filter on like they were torquing head bolts lol!

Did miss putting the drain pan under the correct little drain spout for the filter,and had a nice little puddle to clean up,but overall,not bad.

She did run a little smoother with the fresh brew in the crankcase.

I'm getting ready to do my first oil change. I'm at about 1,000 miles now and plan to do my first at 3,000 miles, then again at 6,000, and then fall into the the 5,000 mile changes at 10k.

My question is how do you clean up that little spout and the associated area where the oil drains from the filter?

After you replace the filter, spray some brake cleaner beneath the filter to flush out the oil.

One thing i noticed when Oil Filter shopping was the Size of the oil flow holes in the filter. Comparing to the one that came on the engine, a factory one that you cannot find by that part No. almost all the aftermarket ones, even the K N had about 1/2 the total hole size. Wix looked exactly like stock. This being a hard working Turbo motor, this really concerned me. I'll only use filters with the same flow ability as the one that came on the engine.

I put whatever the manual said FL-910S....if the engine conks, it's on them. I did notice the smaller hole size, but I am really not that concerned about it, because the filter will pass oil through the element at whatever rate the pores on the element will allow, and that won't be the same as the rate going in; besides the engine doesn't use all 6.2 quarts at once; it draws what it needs from the oil pan as determined by the engine-driven oil pump, and that is just a fraction of the total oil capacity

Not gonna matter for a few changes, that's for sure! However, if you are interested, Wix has what i would say is the best input restriction, the other element being the filter element flow rate. :thumbsup:
