i was offered a phone survey last time i took my 4g ranger to the dealer for service by the receptionist. it was right after the service manager lied to me and tried to rip me off. i informed the lady they didnt want my survey input lol. sad. in general all the fords i owned with one exception have been satisfactory. but almost without fail the dealer service is typically piss poor. i know dealerships are not "ford" they are independent franchise or whatever but still.

My days of laying in the driveway to change my oil are long gone so I depend on dealer service. I recently switched dealers due to a horrible experience when I tried to trade in my Ranger for a F-150. Now that I have recovered from that rape I needed to find another dealer for service. I wasn't crazy about their service department anyway. I went back to my old dealer who I have never purchased a vehicle from but have had many cars and trucks serviced there. This is the way it should work....

Called up and got a 9:00am appointment for "The Works". Arrive for service. Greated by service manager who takes down all my info. Tell him I will be waiting for vehicle. Head to the waiting room(s). One is a quiet room where you can work on your laptop or the main room. The main room has a movie playing on a big TV with surround sound, coffee, tea, and a cabinet packed with snacks. There's comfortable seats to sit in and watch the movie. After an hour manager comes and informs me tires rotated and checked, battery is good, fluids filled, oil is changed. Go out to my truck to check everything and it all looks good and they even washed my truck.

For those of you who count on a dealer for your service if you are getting bad service just find another dealer. There are good ones out there you just need to find them. My new dealer's waiting room was pretty busy. The old dealer's waiting room was empty most of the time. Now I realize why.
I'm surprised that they take appointments for The Works. I thought all Ford dealerships had a "Quick Lane" service center. The one at my dealer is a stand-alone facility, but still on the dealer lot. Other than having to make an appointment, my experience has been just about the same as you noted - but no theater room.

Fingers crossed I can find a dealership with excellent service here in Georgia.
I hit OC Ford in SC just across the border from you. Worth looking at. If nothing else, you’ll see this. And good views count in dealerships.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll take the Ranger there for its next service. The eye candy alone will be worth it!

Unfortunately, too many dealers (all, not just Ford!) forget the name of that part of the dealership which fixes vehicles: Service Department!

If it was a Ford survey, I recently learned the dealership gets it first and they can reject it. The dealership I bought mine from did.

When I take my Ranger in for service at my local dealer they open my door for me and hand me a hot towel, a cashmere robe with my initials embroidered on it, and a pair of comfortable slippers. I'm then escorted to my own private waiting suite. The suite has a top of the line recliner and sofa, a king size bed for taking a nap, 70 inch flat screen TV, hot tub, shower, and on the table there is usually chilled champagne and a fresh fruit plate.

While I'm waiting I can visit the free all you can eat seafood buffet that includes king crab legs and sushi made on demand by their in house sushi chef. Of course if I don't want that I can take advantage of the complimentary room service offering everything from filet mignon to lighter dishes like caeser salad with fresh wild Alaska salmon which is flown in daily. Lastly if I'm feeling a bit stressed I can visit the free spa where I can get a straight razor shave, manicure, and massage to pamper myself a bit.

Okay, really my dealer has a small waiting room with hard chairs, a crummy TV (with a remote so dirty you don't want to touch it), a few vending machines and free coffee. But of most importance the employees are friendly and so far they have done good work when I've been there so I don't mind. I've seen better service centers at different dealers for the various brands of cars I've owned and I've seen worse.
