In 2020 when I bought my truck I had the AMP Research power steps put on. From the beginning I've always had a problem with the front of the steps not wanting to go all the way up and I've tried cleaning them and greasing them. They're still under warranty but I don't know what's wrong or what needs to be replaced, Has anybody else had this problem. The motors seem to be fine. I've tried realigning them

I suspect adjusting the steps will cure your problem. Mine have been on for 5 years without issue.

I remember the instructions required the steps be installed without the motors, and then raised and lowered manually to test for binding and correct gap front to back. The alignment is very important, and the steps not gapped the same points to misalignment.

I adjusted mine several times during installation (before installing the motors) before I had them correct. I have 1/2" gaps on both sides front to back.

Wish I could be of more help.

I agree with everyone
it's alignment
and unfortunately for us our trucks are a bitch to align
do look for the latest version of instructions they added some details that I keep meaning to try as my passenger side has a nasty clunk I need to fix

iI think the new version applies to the bronco also. I don't know I'll try to find a link when I am on a computer

OK I found the new instructions i was referring to - 76140-01A
This is new for Bronco but also applies to our year Ranger
APPLICATION LENGTH MODEL YR PART #
Ford Ranger - Super Crew 72” 2019 - 2023 76140-01A
Ford Ranger - Super Cab 65” 2019 - 2023 76140-01A
Ford Bronco - 4 Door 72” 2021 - 2025 76140-01A
Ford Bronco - 2 Door 55” 2021 - 2025 76140-01A

My Ranger steps are 76136-01A. linked to old install guide for comparison.
Not sure what changed hdw wise between that and 76140-01A.
BUT the step to align the brackets is more detailed on pg 7
went from this
1751558090159-lf.webp

to THIS
1751558259208-0c.webp

I have yet to try these out to see if they work any better. Don't really relish the idea of messing with the damn brackets again and as they are just clunky, pull up all the way, and on the passenger side - out of site out of mind.
Good Luck!
