Dang!!!Well, quick update on the situation - dropped the truck off at body shop last week and I was just notified that they will have to repaint the entire passenger side and replace wheel well liners and door handles and repaint the rock guards and replace r/r taillight and graphics. All of this because some jackass dropped a load of pant on the roadway and didn’t have the courtesy to try and mitigate the situation![]()
Dang!!!
That stinks! But the longer it sits the more the paint cures. You really have to get on it right away to have any luck of getting it off.Well, quick update on the situation - dropped the truck off at body shop last week and I was just notified that they will have to repaint the entire passenger side and replace wheel well liners and door handles and repaint the rock guards and replace r/r taillight and graphics. Dave, you’re exactly right. The body shop manager said they tried several different methods and the paint would not come off.That stinks! But the longer it sits the more the paint cures. You really have to get on it right away to have any luck of getting it off.
Yes, insurance will cover this and yes I have taken it to several places and they all have said the same thing unfortunatelyWill insurance cover the repaint?
Also get a second opinion.
That sucks. I hope that they make things right with you. I didn't read through all five pages but first I'd try a clay bar kit. If that doesn't work I'd try acetone and a microfiber cloth. If that doesn't work then try a detail shop to buff it out.Has anyone had the misfortune of driving thru road paint?? I did the other day unknowingly…. When I got out of my truck I thought it was road grime but upon further investigation I had white paint all over the entire passenger side of the truck, wheel wells (front and rear), tailgate and rear bumper, front and rear tires and rimsI have looked on the inter web for ideas to get it off but no joy as of yet.
I really think I am going to have to repaint the entire side of the vehicle W/insurance claim. I still can’t believe this happened %$#%^
@DukeCanBuildit @airline tech @AzScorpion hell I even ask @Frenchy for help![]()
ABRACADABRA has acetone in it. I recommend it several pages ago.I didn't read through all five pages but first I'd try a clay bar kit. If that doesn't work I'd try acetone and a microfiber cloth. If that doesn't work then try a detail shop to buff it out.
Sorry to hear that. Hope they can match your older paint well. Probably why they say paint the whole side, no paint lines, using body gaps for break points.Well, quick update on the situation - dropped the truck off at body shop last week and I was just notified that they will have to repaint the entire passenger side and replace wheel well liners and door handles and repaint the rock guards and replace r/r taillight and graphics. On the positive side of all that. At least you have your truck back.Well, I picked up my truck from the body shop yesterday. They repainted the passenger side, replaced the wheel-well liners, repainted the rock guards, repainted the tail-pipe (ish), replaced rr tail light, replaced door handles (passenger side), replaced graphics, etc etc etc…. what they didn’t do was remove paint splatter on tail gate, rear wheel and bumper WTF. In the beginning I had taken it to a very reputable shop that I am familiar with but Progressive said I needed to take it to shop with a detailer so the could scrub the paint off lol
, yeah right we know how that turned out.
Anyway, spent the day trying to get the paint off of the areas that the shop forgot to work on (their words). Removed a good bit with Goof Off Pro…. Detailed the entire truck, applied back to black on all the plastic parts, removed paint spray from the wheel. Also had to detail the inside because they wrecked it.
Accountability is a bitch these days - just like the a-hole that dropped all of the paint on the road and kept going, the shop did what they think they had to and called it a day.
in the future I will certainly do my best to avoid road paint![]()
