He will not remove from ignition immediately after turning off

Just got my truck back from the body shop after a deer collision and when I go to turn off the truck the key will not remove from the ignition immediately tried a couple minutes later and it removes turn the back on turn off stuck in ignition again for a couple minutes I assume this has to do with the disconnecting the battery when they did the body work please help

the only thing I’m aware of and in my experience is if the battery Is disconnected the auto up windows don’t work until you reset them. I never had any issues like what you are saying. maybe the key is bent or something? Or it could be thinking the trucks not off so it doesn’t let you remove it.

I don't believe there is anything electrical inside the lock to hold it in place.

Rumor has it if you tap it gently with a small hammer it can help free up any stuck teeth inside the mechanism. Probably wouldn't hurt to get a proper lock lube in there as well.

did a tow truck driver perhaps get aggressive with it while the steering was in the lock position?

That's another thing to try, move the steering wheel back and forth. I've had them where they were tight against the lock and couldn't turn the key.

I think there was another thread about removing a key from the the ignition but I see this one is removing a he.
Not sure I can help with that unless you are local.
