I’ve got 285/70R17 tires on, with raptor bump stops, and icon leaf packs. I haven’t upgraded my fx4 shocks yet. While messing around the rear fender cap/trim got torn off. I didn’t see it happen so no clue how. There looks to be some evidence of rubbing on the under side of it. Did my rear tire tear it off?

A little more details. The front of the trim that lines the fender cracked and broke near the bottom front mounting bolt. I would imagine if I had smacked it hard enough to brake it I would have additional body damage but that’s not the case. Could donuts in the mud flex the bed so much to snap the trim?

Nope, not even from this monster flex position. I'm running a slightly larger tire than you @ 295/70/17 with a -12 offset wheel. I'm off road just about every other weekend. I wonder if you picked up some debris that created your impact? I do get the occasional kick up of larger sticks, branches and large rocks when I'm out and about.

ok, i gotta ask...i'm no hard core off roader or anything like that....but why would you go into that hole instead of around it?

Clout?
balls bigger than apples?
because it was there?
I want to willfully damage my truck?
I'm stupid?
I didnt see it?
didnt look that deep?
wasnt my truck?
I'm from Florida, its expected?
My offroad experience isnt complete unless i get stuck at least once?
Here, hold me beer?
sink hole, came out of nowhere?
the Tacoma did it, i wanted to show him I could do it better?
girlfriend distracted me?
Lol, wasn't intentional. I was off road with my adult son's in a caravan of their trucks. Nissan frontier 4x4 and my old tacoma 4x4. I was the lead truck and we were on a single pig trail road that had some water in the ruts from a recent hurricane that came through a few days before. When I entered the front end went in just fine however, when the rear entered, the hole gave way and this is how I ended up. At the time what I didn't know that the hole had a massive set up pine tree roots that supported the front of the truck. The roots had all the dirt blown out from under it and they broke just at the rear of the Ranger settled in. Talk about cleaning your shorts out! That was a moment for sure. I just got caught being lazy and not checking the hole that was filled with water first. I've been down this trail many times over the years but this was the first. Live and learn, lol. But your right I do have massive balls and I'm not ashamed of putting them on display.... Bawaaaa

My apologies Charly, Mr Pride and I didn't mean to hijack your thread, lol. But yeah I doubt that your rubbing the tires back there doing donuts in the mud. Post up some pics so we can see what your talking about. Some of us may have seen this before?

@Stangman570 are you on the factory parabolic spring?

I ask because the Icon springs the OP is running theoretically should flex A LOT more than the factory spring.

I think it's possible OP. How are those Icons setup?

Yes, your correct I'm on the stock springs. You make a good point, but dang that much body roll from the Icon's?

i'll make sure to pick up some good canadian beer at the duty free on my way down
That's what I'm saying, not like this watered down piss we have here. Alot of people haven't been out of the states and have no idea. I've had some of the best beer in the world when I was in the Navy. All except Egypt, crap was horrible.

Not sure but they're supposed to be pretty bendy. Seems at least possible if he has them setup on one of their lower settings. Plus thos Raptor bumpstops are short.

OP, at least you have an excuse to move to Tremor flares if you want to.

I'd get your truck out and check your rear travel. Should be easy enough to see if the shorter bumps stops and more flexible springs are allowing the tire to contact.

I'm running the global leaf packs and Raptor bumpstops without issue. But my tires are quite a bit skinnier @255/80-17.

Lots of good beer in the US, you just have to look beyond the corner convenience store.

I should probably measure the distances from top of tire to the top of the fender arch; bump stop to leaf pack. They are much more flexible than stock even at the level 2 configuration. Great ride.

judging off the first picture the tires would likely tuck up in the fender before making any kind of contact with the magnetic grey trim.

So looks like the rubbing happened closer to the front of the arch. I went out to take some pictures and noticed there are signs of rubbing on the black plastic wheel well liner. I checked the other side and sure enough I rubbed there too! Time for a 1” block lift?
