Makes me want to consider the Ford PowertrainCare extended warranty as it appears to go up to 175k miles. Most transmission shops I talked to said the new multi-speed automatics can easily make 200+k miles of highway driving but city driving the units they rebuild usually see extensive wear before the 200k mark, notably 160-190k, with failures somewhere in that range for RWD and 4WD applications. FWD units seem to fail even earlier, especially when used for Uber type driving.

I tow with my 10R80 and go through mountain passes all over the country. Vail Pass in CO put a hurtin’ on my GMC’s trans when the temps spiked to over 240. Never drove the same until I got it rebuilt (under 200k).

Thoughts?
