I have the same. It’s a nice change every once in a while from the plastic fantastic wonder nine guns to pick up the ole 686.

1000 rounds of ammo to go with it?

1k ammo is nice. But the warrior angel etching on the gun shows it is a custom build from Rifle Dynamics. And this is a one of seven made by Jim Fuller about 10 years ago. The entire gun from flash hider to receiver was treated in Nickle boron from Fail Zero. They coated everything that is steel, barrel outside, receiver in and out, BGC, bolt, fire control group, gas piston, etc. Strip away the moly resin green and the gun is a slippery silver color.

Ni boron is definately not needed in the desert but Rifle Dynamics was 5 miles from my house So I was a frequent customer at the shop.

Probably an old FN model 98 variant, a commercial version of the 98. Very nice with the set triggers & -06 cartridge. Looks really nice & should shoot well enough.

It has proof marks from Belgium and Italy. I believe that Richard Basehart acquired it when he was living in Italy, so 1958-1960. It doesn't say FN on it, but I might have to remove the stock to find that. I'm not sure.

Made a little progress refreshing my new-to-me Remington 870 Police Magnum today. I broke the gun down in prep for Cerakote, and it took a bath in the sonic cleaner. I also scored a set of almost mint Police Magnum stocks for it for $0.00! All I had to do was trade my old ones for the new ones. New Wilson Combat mag extension tube gets in Saturday, so that means on Monday I'll be dropping parts off for Cerakote!

I have wanted one of these for a looonnggggg time! I saw one a long while back with a Galil handguard and an Ace folding stock and it was awesome.

Now I want a PC Charger with a side folding stock.

Because I am a complete noob...how do you get the lower that fits and operates well with a kit like this? What can be expected to pay for a lower kit?

These are made to go on any Mil Spec (military spec) lower which are the most common. This way you can mix n match from different manufacturers and all internal parts like triggers, pins and springs will be interchangeable too. Before all this mess you could find some decent lowers for $30-$50 like PSA and Anderson and the higher end ones from $100 +. I've seen a couple places where you can still get a Anderson lower for about $55-$80 now. The lower is the only part that has to be transferred by a dealer (FFL) because it has the serial number. The parts kits can be shipped directly to you.
