My son, God love him, wants to send me his S&W M&P 15 in .556 NATO (he bought it but doesn't like it because its not exactly like the one he had in the ARMY).
Is it hard to ship these from state to state? How does that work?

The easiest way to do this is have him use a local gun dealer or FFL and have them transfer this to your local dealer or FFL. This way everything is legal and the rifle is now out of his name and into yours. I would do this ASAP because of what's been going on politically your window could get closed very fast.

Edit: Once you have your local dealer you can either have them contact his dealer or just get their FFL license number and give it to your sons dealer.

So way back many many years ago I was goofing around with long range shooting. I had started reading and watching videos on people who shot "rail guns" competitively (see picture below). I was fascinated by the idea of and otherwise useless gun outside of competition that was also going to be more accurate than anything else.

I actually ended up selling the schematics to a company up north (no it didn't make me a millionaire), but I developed and designed a hybrid .308 liquid cooled"rail gun". I can't really show you the inner guts or workings, but it was basically a 24" long barrel on a 308 pattern AR that could be operated as semi-automatic or with modified gas block to shut off gas completely for single shot (take note of charging handle in BCG).

It weighed in at almost 30lbs (similar to a Barrett 50BMG) and with the custom brake system it make firing 308 feel like a .22

That's a good price Chris and they're really fun to shoot. I have the all black one and a suppressor on it which makes it James Bond quiet.
